Costs a pretty penny and seems to draw significant power.

Nice seeing these 4k monitors with higher refresh rate come out. I don't think I will be able to see the difference in refresh rate but for those who can it's very nice.

I would on the other hand like to see a bit bigger monitors come out with these specs, minimum 32inch would be nice. But then comes the issue with the computer being able to power a beast monitor like that.
Oh well, one can dream about the setup that would satisfy me in the future.

You will definitely notice the refresh rate. 60 to 120Hz is in your face. 120 to 144Hz... not so much.

It doesn't make much of a difference with Elite - it's just nice to that kind of game - but in FPS games the difference is marked.

Yes it's safe but for the price I prefer the computer

yeah, but if you already have a computer ... :)

nowadays average monitors are quite ok, back in the days where flatscreens (tft?) where just starting to be popular, the monitor was probably the most critical investment you could make in your computer system. if only for health reasons, if you expected to spend many hours before that thing. we have only one pair of eyes for many years, and i've spent quite a lot of hours in front of crt tubes.

but yes, that monitor is a luxury. i got me his lesser brother last year, the pg348q (3440x1440/100mhz) for a little less than half that price. and it took me a long time to decide, but i'm totally happy with it, and will be for quite some time. the pg27uq must be mindblowing ... i wonder what gpu set up you need to push it to 144 fps with that amount of pixels, that's almost double :O

And here I am, happy with my humble 27" G-Master GE2788HS. :)

Buying a second monitor at the end of the month, for a multi-display setup.

Meh - two monitors is the point of disappointment and frustration. You'll need three or five. Check your local PC recyclers - you can pick up perfectly good displays for dirt cheap. Depending on your video card, you may need at least one active adapter for a monitor input.

I have an ASUS PB287Q for the price of around £300. I also have a 1080ti graphics card and 4k runs like silk on ED. I can't see honestly how it gets any better than that but I guess it does :)

I only want the second monitor for web browser, Discord, etc. I can't imagine a need for a third or fourth.

I will be nosing around the local area, but there aren't many such businesses here.

If you only want a second screen for browsing, Discord etc - do yourself a huge favour and buy a landfill Android tablet for about 20 quid instead.

Hmm, perhaps. Nothing is set in stone, so I'll check on that avenue now.

For USD $2000 I could get a pretty decent 55/60 inch 4K TV :p Maybe even with OLED/QLED technology if I'm lucky :D

Certainly will get more use than just the ASUS monitor would....

I can't live without my 4 screen setup... but no 2000$ screen setup, haha. :D

And to think that monitor costs 2000$ a pop... 8000 dollars in the hole once all is said and done in my point of view. I'd be in debt for a long long time... not even enough for ramen.

The 2017 oled 65" c7v from LG retail here in Norway for just under 22000 nok. (£2000, €2300, $2700)
That includes 25% sales tax.

The 55" is half that.

Just saying.

I don't understand the appeal of such a small monitor for such a high price... I currently run a 40" 4K Philips monitor, and while it's not ideal for gaming (only 60hz, a bit of ghosting) I would not trade it for something smaller. Personally I'm waiting for the nVidia BFGDisplays - 65", 4k, 120hz, that's going to be worth spending cash on!
