You can't leave them there so you ferry them back in pairs to your ship and scurry back to port to get paid. Then you hang around for the next Mission of Mercy and sell another one.
On a whim I decide to go exploring; I'm a Pioneer who wants to be Elite and a trip in the general direction of Sagittarius should get the job done. I'm on the way and doing my tour of inspection when I realise I've still got four pods in the hold:

- Dave Lister - good for a curry and lager session.
- Ellen Ripley - I'll definitely revive her if I get into a tight spot with some Thargoids.
- Dave Bowman - just the man for an EVA to investigate problems with a long-range antenna.
