Dear Lakon executives,
I am bringing this to you because you, of all manufacturers, are the furthest in the function-dictates-form mindset.
Please produce a series of ships designed to take up every cubic meter of hangars without scraping. This would give us the ability to squeeze absolutely the maximum cargo (or other things) into each of these hangars.
These ships would be designed to be the maximum height, width, and length of the hangar bays with basically no room to spare.
In honor of the ancient-Earth ships that were designed to fit with around a meter to spare in each dimension on early industrial ship canals (the Panamax, etc standards), I suggest calling these spaceworthy bricks the SmallMax, MidiMax, and LargeMax. They don't have to be pretty, just big, just max.
Think medium class slots on a small platform ship, large class slots on a medium ship, and small-capital-slots on a large platform.
All of the current ships, from all manufacturers, in the market leave so much unused space in the hangars and it seems so wasteful.
I leave the armor, utility point, and hard point design decisions up to you but, done right, each of these ships could have light, standard, and heavy variants (light vs standard vs heavy armor, long vs baseline vs short jump range).
Thank you for you consideration,
