Open play frustration

Open play is great, I have a lot of fun in it. I only have one issue.. Meeting up with friends. We can both be sitting outside of the same station and never see each other because of the different server we are on. This makes meeting up with people almost impossible seeing as how we can't manually change the server we are on, or even have a button that says "Join Your Friend's Game." It's so unintuitive that we have this giant game where lots of people play and want to meet up but it's up to the server gods to decide if thats possible... It makes me not want to play any longer. :(

If you join a wing with your buddy, the matchmaking will favour your connection with each other than other people's.

Give that a go, and see if it helps.

You don't get the irony here? He has to see his friends in game to be able to form a wing to make sure that he sees his friends in game.

This has happened to me while in a Wing also - solved it by re-logging (from menu- not the whole game).

It does work.

Eh no.... You have to ad one and other to your friend list and then you can wing up from anywhere.
You can send a friend request from the mainmenu so no need to find eatch other for that either.

Hope it helps

Massively problematic multiplayer. Since Beta, hopefully they are still working on this. I can say its gotten better, so all signs point to it will continue to get better, in the mean time Wing up or just roll with the solo multiplayer whatever thing the game is doing. You should end up popping in and out of each others instance occasionally.
I often wonder, if there is a 32 man limit to the instances why the game persists on creating brand new ones for certain players, I have yet to see more than a dozen players in any instance, and that was staged by a group. Regional issues shouldn't be issues, I can chat with mates from Au to GB to back here in the states instantly on comms, so here's to seeing these problems sorted.
Cheers.

Tried to log in at the same time?

That actually could be the reason why they don't see each other:

When you log into the game while you are at a starport, the game will always create a fresh, empty instance for you (to speed up the initial loading and getting into the game). So if your friend is at a station and you have logged out there, when you log in you will never see them, or any other player. If your friend then leaves the instance by supercruise (NOT logging out) and comes back, chances are good the matchmaking puts them into your instances, as it always prefers to place friends in the same instances. And being in a wing should guarantee that this happens then.

No, you can't. At least it was buggy about 3 weeks ago, I spent 2 hours with a buddy, sending dozends of wing requests. Didn't work. Was it fixed in one of the updates? We didn't try since then. During the wings beta we had no problem, worked fine.

It shude be fixed now, along with the problem of text messeges not getting yhruw deu to connection problems.

Hi All,

I am not sure that is entirely true anymore, well based on last nights voice call lol.
I logged in and was at an outpost on the medium pad. I was pottering around the menus, looking at influence etc. My friend comms me and asked if I had squatting rights to the medium pad. Like you I thought that my first instance was always empty, but I guess the friends list now overrides this.

Thanks for the hint, we will try it again soon. It was real fun in the beta and frustrating when we tried a few weeks ago. Will give it a shot!
