Hi Ross!
In the latest Discovery Scanner 3, you talked a lot about the audio in Elite Dangerous. In particular, you mentioned how sound effects are positioned into 3D space by Wwise.
My question is: What is your recommended audio setup to make effects actually audible in 3D? For example, I'd like to hear space ships roaring over my head, as I see them move past the ceiling window.
As far as I know, Elite Dangerous hasn't enabled any spatial audio in Wwise. This means it outputs to 7.1 (or less), with all speakers on the same (ear) level. In particular, it doesn't output to ceiling or floor speakers. Your comment in the stream makes me wonder if there is some (maybe experimental) switch to enable true 3D audio in Elite?
Thanks! And please keep up the technical streams/talks, I appreciate them a lot!
