Operation Titanfall **4** - Taranis explosion watch party

The Xeno Strike Force returns for a 4th and (presumably) final time (wreckage exploration notwithstanding) to observe the fruits of humanity's labor - the detonation of Titan Taranis.

The remnants of the supernova-like explosion are presently inaccessible, with:
  • A supercruise minimum drop distance of 135km
  • An uncounterable pulse-wave that pushes you back, firing at about 130km
  • An impassable repulsion barrier back at 140km (that prevents you from pushing back in)
  • A "hypercaustic" zone starting at 110km
  • A (reported, didn't test this one first-hand) addition repulsion barrier further in

Glory, to Mankind! One down, seven to go.

Got to Taranis about an hour early and waited there, watching. Because, well, that's what I wanted to do. The 'show' of people attempting to fight Thargoids and getting absolutely obliterated wasn't as fun though, compared to the one I observed on Friday night. Probably because they were scattered around more between targets.

Since it appeared the bad actor who was finding it fun to screw with ships by making them more noticeable to local Thargoids hung around primarily near the Titan, where the mess was occurring, I also never got bothered. (And had a light amount of fun pointing out their hypocrisy when they claimed they were being ganked, because of course they did. While using a weird bright green burst or pulse laser and a seeker missile rack, actively targeting human ships which attempted to stay hidden. Yeah, sure, you were the one getting ganked.)

I may not approve of the destruction itself but on a purely OOC level, the event is something I'm probably going to remember for a few years. Very curious to see what will be at the center once the caustic residues go, or at least return to 'regular' Titan levels so you can actually get to the core properly (aka Frontier unlocks it).

I may be suspecting that something will be at the center that we won't like, not just a Titan wreckage, or what remains of it after that massive explosion. And Thargoids skimming through it maybe.

(My take on those pulses and the inconsistent AGF is bugs - for the former in particular, because the "Titan Destruction Imminent" message popped up every time upon doing the manual/'dirty' drop.)
