then its no suprise to see me flying in a corvette and cutter after 5 months

So here we are in a self-selecting online community that is, frankly, well known for ferreting out loopholes, then relentlessly exploiting them... and some people think that it's an issue that we have too much money? Talk about a non-representative demographic.
This forum is not at all reflective of the experience of the community that I play with. Unlike those here, they play Elite like it's a game rather than a lifestyle, and the exploits that net new players Anacondas in days are completely foreign to them. In some case they might have figured out something alone, or they're seen passing mention of an exploit without getting the details; like figuring out that logging in/out would refresh the board, but never really figureing out where to exploit that feature to produce astronomical returns (and never would have flown as far away as Sothis).

Now, I'm not suggesting that the majority of players are like the uninformed folk that lurk in the dim recesses of my friends list, just relating that relying on the feedback is a bad idea that will result in a skewed picture of the overall player-base. The players who pick this up and treat it just like any other game in their Steam/Xbox/PS4 library are getting the same experience that new players have always had. It's only those who chase loopholes and look up the most efficient grinding locations that have these 'problems' - and if they feel like the progression is ruined they only have themselves to blame.

FD did this to themselves, sure the game started off pretty hard with low credit earnings but there were also huge exploits in the early days.

Remember the T9 trading rare goods jist outside the station that was actually selling the goods?

People made billions exploiting those holes in the game, this created a massive gap in player progression within the first few months.

Then Engineers made combat players grind like crazy so they have God mode ships and now there's multi crew where you can sit on someone elses ship, do bare minimum and earn millions in a few hours.

Its how the game is being developed, on purpose, by FD.

Long gone are the days of progressing through ships.

Now you start in a sidey, jump on someone's ship and just wait until you have as much money as you want.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but you'd be lying to yourself I'm afraid.

To be fair. Airline pilots do have separate ratings for every different make and model of jet. Yet flying those are also functionally the same.

(playing devil's advocate, don't jump down my throat, put your handbag on the floor)

But this is a video game. Nobody is responsible for the lives of hundreds of passengers and potentially hundreds of people on the ground. Besides, aircraft behave differently depending on their configuration, number of engines, wing loading and so forth. All the spaceships in ED fly pretty much the same way. People take this game way too seriously. It's a video game, it's not an astronaut training programme. People need to chill and let others fly what they want, how they want ;)

Uh? I thought that was reverted by "connecting" the outcome to the rank of the Multicrew-member? (see Beta-Forum)

At an average of 150k onboard a skilled corvette/cutter pilot you'd be waiting for quite a while as a new player...

Yup.

And there you go taking me seriously, jumping down my throat, and using a weaponized handbag.

I guarantee that the majority of those flying Anaconda's realize that once they've hit what most would consider the endgame (owning a big ship), there's not much else to strive for. I agree, a lot people obtain expensive ships way too fast. For me, the bottom line is that there's just way too much emphasis on earning credits and buying ships. Literally every activity ED throws at you is filtered and bottle necked through the CR grind, which is why we keep debating rather benign stuff like this.

The payout is reduced now yes, but it just means it takes longer.

The possibility still exists to make a lot of credits from doing almost nothing.

You won't be straight into an Anaconda, but a vulture or asp within a few hours play is still possible.

wow, I can pick an actual combat ship or the space jeep without any of the modules that make them good, I am just progressing too, fast

the excitement is too much to bear

Funnily enough i don't think so much of a problem in the game itself.. if you shut out everything its still the sandbox it always was.

If anything, its the community that's warping and changing because suddenly they can fit. Look at reddit at the moment, its not discussion anymore, every single post is kids show and tell and saying cheesy things to get attention and agreement from other kids.

The voices around have changed, the game itself is evolving, but you problem actually isnt there if you shut it all out.

Except for engineers. This was something for kids by kids. It took away from what was there and replaced it with something for kids. Ie, nothing but a progression treadmill.
