Is VENOM a B-Movie?

Went to see last night (in 3D ha!) and honestly, masses of fun.

The movie got only 30% rotten tomatoes critic rating but is up at 90% approval from viewers and broke the October opening weekend box office record.

Opposite to The Last Jedi (good reviews, bad viewer reaction) is this reviewers getting out of touch, every film has to break rules of cinema in some way to be called 'a good film' or are B-movies valuable too?

"On my planet, I'm a bit of a loser too" .. broke the rules of expectation?

Is Venom a B movie? I think it might be. But in a good way (that Sony could exploit?).

I'll come clean a bit. I'd like to know who else has seen yet and who else thought it was both ace entertaining and a brilliant launch for the character. Stan Lee, imo unbeatable.

It was okay. It didn't beat Deadpools, but in comparison to the Marvel main line films (Avengers, Cap America, Thor) and DC flicks of late (except WW) it was highly entertaining and altogether pleasant surprise.
Solid 7.5/10 film for me.

Over the years I've come to ignore most of the "rating" sites. They're rubbish. Most of my favourite films of all time have sub-50% rating.

I actually quite like the mainstream Marvel Studios films and characters, those are what I would call the A movies, the MCU. Thor has definitely come good and I was never a Captain America - or Ironman - fan before. Hulk and Spiderman imo look more on track than they did. Venom is "Sony in association with Marvel" so I think it's a B.

PG13 unlike Deadpool but while you can easily imagine Venom with an R that does restrict the box office too and actually I think the symbiotes are horrible enough in PG13 to be good and gratuitous already. Apparently the plan is a Hardy trilogy and it does look like the box office might support that at this point.

I don't think I need to see Venom bite 'all their heads off and pile them up in the corner' on screen because it's already hilarious just to hear him suggest the idea? (I lolled) Sometimes it's what you don't see? But B movie for me is a good thing because it's a great excuse to schlock. People seem to take comic book movies incredibly seriously these days but I think it's impossible to take Venom too seriously and imo that's a proper tonic.

I saw it earlier this week. Very entertaining and well done (in my opinion).

Some of the movies of "minor" characters in the Marvel Universe have turned out to be the best.
