Played this game off and on for about a year.

Love the concept, but looking forward to a lot more being added.... Anyways, to my question.

I finally found a ship I love, the asp Explorer. So versatile, and I got the jump range to 30LY so I feel I can go anywhere. Eventually said to myself "lakon has served me well so far, and the type-7 looks cool, let's try it for mining"

Bought one, paid cash money for cosmetics, outfitted for mining and enjoying quite a bit. (Reasonably profitable too!)

Now I'm eyeing up the type-9. Is it worth it for the massive price gap?

I love the look, and feel loyal to Lakon.

People in my player group are laughing and telling me to exploit quince until I can get a cutter and telling me type-9 is trash.

What are thoughts here

I love the Lakon "fishbowl" cockpit. My favorite ship is an AspX and my second favorite is a Type-9. Both have been engineered, carefully outfitted, have sturdy shields, but no weapons. I use the Asp for exploring and trading, while I use the Type-9 mostly for CGs. I've flown the "big 3" in the betas, but I much prefer the Type-9.

You should try it and decide if you like it. Don't be afraid to go your own way. The game would be boring if everyone flew an Anaconda.

It's pretty much a love it or hate it ship, without much in between.

Some players really love it in VR because of the spacious cockpit and great visibility.

Others despise it because of it's lack of speed and slow turn rate.

You'll probably know which camp you fall into pretty quickly.

I haven't flown one in a long time because I tend to like speed and quick handling of other ships. I confess to not having taken another look since it got a slight buff recently, and also never flew one that had any engineering done to it.

I just might find it fun to take a second look.
