Optimal Settings

I have a Dell XPS 15 9560
GeForce GTX 1050
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHZ
32GB Ram
3840 x 2160, 60Hz

i have the NVIDIA GeForce Experience program on my laptop which can apply optimal settings to certain games they have them for.

However when doing that for Planet Zoo it selects a few settings to change.

They recommend 1366x768 for resolution (even though its a 4k screen 3840x2160)
and recommends the display mode to be set to 'Full Screen'

However when i set to optimize then try to open the program its just a keeps opening and closing maximizing and minimizing windows trying to open properly which it doesnt manage to do in the whole screen?

Its a similiar situation for when i do it with Planet Coaster

They recommend 2048x1152 for resolution (even though its a 4k screen 3840x2160)
and recommends the display mode to be set to 'Full Screen'

The only way to get it to open properly is to override the display mode to 'Windowed Borderless'? Why can i not run it in full screen?

Also why would it recommend different resolution settings for a game from the same company using the same laptop equipment?

I would suggest 1920 x 1080, and everything on medium. Runs great.

I can't comment on the differences between both games, or why Nvidia would suggest different settings.

I can't really comment on the problems with full screen etc. because I dont use this program, but it sounds like bloatware, so its probably better to turn it off. Those automatic optimization tools are often not very good at optimizing and unnecessarily waste resources

The recommended resolution not only depends on your screen, but on your other hardware as well. Your CPU and GPU are not good enough to run this game at 4k. You should try 1920x1080 - as LN recommended - because it has exactly 1/4 of the pixels of 3840x2160. Downscalling to another resolution could look fuzzy.

The program probably expects that Planet Zoo needs more resources than PlanCo because its newer

Thanks for replying.

Are you basing that on my system spec or just generally?
