Option: No commodities please

Greetings,

I am a frequent mission runner, because... well missions are pretty good, I mean they can become a lot better with the whole going from point A to blabladiebladiebladiebla... but thats not what I am here to ask about;

Sometimes, I like to go small. Assassination missions in an Imp. Eagle for instance. Now, this Imp. Eagle of mine only has room for 2 tons of cargo, for when I come across something special. But after 2.1 I am annoyed with something very small, yet big. I cant accept any missions that give out more then 2 tons of special engineer commodities. And a lot of missions have 2+... FD, could you please make an option to disregard the commodities at mission completion and still do the mission that pays out 1.5 mil, please?...

Anyone else having this problem?

Greets,
Tikas

not like this, but after completing missions i travel sometimes,... only to get interdicted because of the 3 tons, 386cr worth of reward commodity i don't need:(

I support this,

" Warning, you are about to accept a reward of x commodities but your ship can only hold y. You will lose x-y commodities. (accept)(decline) "

Yes, funny I just posted about this in another thread. I'd like an auto-sell or just decline on the commodities as well. I'm constantly having to remember to sell or dump them, and when I don't remember I get attacked.

Funny story though, once I was carrying some magnetic emitter coils, worth maybe 200cr total, that I didn't realize I had. I got interdicted, and at that point I checked my inventory and saw them there. So the first thing I did, before even starting my usual escape sequence, was to dump them. No point in continuing with them in my hold, right?

The pirate immediately says, "I'm rich!" and stops shooting at me.

Silly. But yeah, anyway, I'd like the option not to be rewarded with them. Just credits, thanks :)

if I remember correctly, something like that is in the works (2.2?)

That would be very very appreciated! :D

That happened to me so many times when I run a lot of missions at once, and all I care about is credits. Getting interdicted just to discover that you cargo hold is full with stuff. I have never dumped cargo in those situations though, I always did it after I obliterated the pirate. Awesome to know they react properly. Wonder if 1t would be enough to make their dollar shaped eyes go green?

While I do like receiving commodity rewards (why would I complain about free stuff?), I do absolutely agree that we should be allowed to complete or take a mission even if we don't have room for cargo. I really dislike not being able to take a 3m credit settlement strike mission because my ship can't hold 4T of often worthless cargo. You're forced to always have at least a 4T cargo hold on you at all times which makes no sense.

Something needs to change definitely. With all the commodities I have had to sell, you'd think some entrepreneur would sell them on the open market.

Mine is other way.
I have a big ship but sometime can't choose mission because it saying "ship too big."

what is that? I have a small ship at home (Sirius) I can get mission and change ship.... not let me!

I think Elite is good game but bad mechanical!

I hope FD implements something to fix this. Until then, there's a bit of a workaround you can do if you keep your ships at the same station.

Accept the combat mission with ship that has enough cargo for the reward. Then switch into your ship that has little or no cargo space. You'll be able to use that ship for the mission. Then just switch back into the ship with cargo and hand in the mission. Do what you will with the commodities.
Rinse.
Repeat.

It's a bit of an annoyance to have to change ships before and after the mission, but it lets you use a ship without cargo racks to run a mission with engineer cargo rewards.

Commodity rewards are there in the first place because of the rather daft implementation of Engineer recipes requiring commodities in a game without commodity storage [wacko]

In my opinion commodities should be removed entirely from Engineer recipes and missions should instead reward you with rare materials. Less hassle, more quality of life, still keeps the RNGineers in business. I honestly don't know how this particular oversight went past Beta.

That is a good idea, Argus. I never thought of that.

Have they changed that now? I thought cargo came with you when you swapped ships and if the smaller ship had no space, then you couldn't swap.

Edit: Never mind. I obviously sell the cargo before switching. Douh!

That means your ship can not land at a medium or small landing pad, beeing it an outpost where the mission is going to. There is logic in that in my eyes :)

Didnt think of that one yet, but still, I tend to move around and do missions, quite a hassle to do this just for 1 missions :p

This is still the case, he is just talking about fooling the mission giver into thinking that you have enough cargo space for the mission.

This is pretty annoying and yea we need a fix. The worst is with combat mission is non-cargo combat ships. Have to sell and rebuy a module for cargo every time a mission requires it.
