I'm trying to get my head around this, the renderer originally showed coloured light from stars, and lit up planets and things accurately. Blue stars gave off blue light. Are they now looking up some value in a table and applying a coloured filter to make things even more blue?
I can understand these colour filters as a situational way of approximating an ambient glow or something, but in a game where you're mostly in a perfect vacuum with a few point sources of light, it doesn't seem like something you'd want switched on all the time.
