Option to disable launch re-orientation

Hi folks,

Just a thought that I'd like to see: an option, probably in the ship functions interface (like the option to disable orbit lines) to disable the re-orientation of my ship before launch.

I think the docking animations are really nicely done, and I can see that for outfitting your ship would need to go down into the workshop, so I'm happy to watch while all the various platforms and lifts move around. But honestly, it's getting really boring watching for a few seconds every time I dock, while my ship gets turned around. Ok, maybe in a station, turn me around to face the exit, even though I'd rather do it myself. On an outpost, though, it's a little silly when I'm just going to thrust straight up anyway.

Thoughts, comments?

See you in the black...

You mean on those occasions where you don't enter the hangar, but still have to be taken down on the lift and turned around when you launch. I see what you mean, perhaps have a 'turn ship around' option when you land, which you can use if you want, or you can take off exactly how you landed.

Exactly that. It's a tiny niggle really, but the fact that it's unavoidable bugs me, and it's especially unnecessary on an outpost. It feels like the game trusts me to fly this million-credit piece of technology untold light years across the galaxy, then requires me to land it precisely on a pad. But it doesn't trust me to be able to turn round to face the other way. ;)

It's always seemed a bit daft to me too, but for a different reason.

When you land there are blast 'doors' raised behind, yet when you take off those doors are in front and the engines are pointing straight at the control tower/buildings.

I can understand the turn around in a hub station, but on the outposts it is COMPLETELY unnecessary! Also as has been posted elsewhere, dropping the blast shield is almost pointless on EVERY launch as surely you want that behind your ship on takeoff not landing when you will be throttling harder to get away from the dock?

I'd like to see this implemented!

I am unsure if this is the case but, perhaps this animation sequence is a loading screen of sorts, as various assets and computations are made? before you can fully enter that particular instance. Thus would you rather have a spinning icon or a animation sequence.

if it is the case that, and it is not a "instance" loading screen it still doesn't bother me as I play "lets pretend to be a space ranger" and is the same as having to taxi to a runway if I was playing "lets pretend to be a airline pilot"...

This is not a twitch / platform game where this would be an issue...

I can see what you mean, and there are a lot of instances of waiting for things in E : D. However, this one just seems so unnecessary on the face of it, and occurs right when I want to get on!

I'd prefer to be unlocked from the pad so I can simply slide upward a little bit, then pitch 180 degrees and shoot right out of the station.
