Option to disable matchmaker.

Please, I hate it so much. When I am in the enemy system, I only, I repeat, ONLY see NPCs that are pledged to a faction in PowerPlay but no pirates or traders that I can pirate. In high RES I only, I repeat, ONLY get enemy pirates piloting an Adder or worse. Not even Elite ones (I fly a Courier in this case).

Can we PLEASE have area spawns? Like in a high RES a certain pool of NPCs spawn there, no matter the ship you are flying or the rank you have earned. These ships in the RES zones are no challenge, in fact, they are annoying. Most of the time I wait until I see something like a Clipper, python or a Conda but after 30 minutes of money wasting waiting, I scan the Python to realize it is a bounty hunter. Also the police is ridiculous. Why should they send Anacondas against Sidewinders and Adders?

Challenge! Please! Elite Anacondas, three at once, now!

As per the current mechanics you CAN get enemies that are higher rank than your highest Pilot Federation rank - but it also depends on other factors like system security rating etc. IIRC.

Also, the famous SJA is working on spreading the skillset more widely between various ranks of NPCs so that the Mosty Harmless are exactly that and Elite are real challenge - and everything in between scales accordingly. We'll see this implemented in one of the future updates, i.e. Soon™.

I want to add something at this point. It would be nice if higher ranked NPCs use multiple strategies instead of only one predictable strategy, because this is what makes every NPC easy and boring. If they can be predicted (often players can be predicted as well) then they are boring and simply no challenge, no matter the effectiveness. Every move has a downside, especially in combat and once you have discovered this weakness, it is easy to kill your opponent. Sadly, every NPC uses exactly one single move/strategy/call-it-as-you-want which results in every NPC being boring and no challenge due to the so-fast discovered weakness. But if different (or even the same) NPCs use different movements, loadouts, strategies, it is always a challenge because it is required that the weakness has to be discovered within the fight rather before the appearence on the radar.

If it sounds confusing, please ask. No native speaker n' stuff :)

Good points there :)

There are plenty of posts by SJA explaining how the AI works and will work in the future, just search for posts by her and maybe you'll find out that's already planned :)

I never read about AI in depth, as I'd rather be surprised when it's released.

Question ... who is SJA and what's her 'full name'?
