I'd very much like an option to move the left and right panels to external devices, like a tablet or a laptop.
I envision placing a tablet on my left. This tablet runs an app that connects to the game, e.g. via telnet over wifi. I imagine that it would be a piece of cake to set up the screen display, using VT220, while still getting feedback via the usual devices. Shouldn't take a competent programmer more than a few hours to set up a working demo, as there are several apps running telnet available for android, iOS and windows.
Next step, could be a dedicated app, running telnet on most of the screen, but with a simple keypad for interaction (up, down, left, right, back, select) along the edge. Placement of this keypad should be configurable to left edge, lower edge or right edge. Or use the keyboard on a laptop. This should also be a relatively easy thing to implement.
The best solution would of course be an app utilizing touch selection of tabs and items, but that takes a bit more programming.
Development costs could be recovered by making this app a purchase, like the paint jobs.
