Orange flashing light in Viper??

So as of 1.1 I've got this ethereal orange blinking light in my cockpit. I've looked all around and I cant seem to find where it's coming from or what it means?

Does anyone know?

It means patch 1.3 is coming sooooon!

Sounds like the proximity warning light. Maybe it is bugged.

That might be what it is. I recall being in 'proximity' of planet at the time. Did they replace the red PROXIMITY icon in the top right of the HUD or is it redundant?
