Newcomer / Intro Orange Half moon above systems in Galaxy map?

They are an indication of what systems you can jump to in one jump, given your current jump range, from the system you have currently selected (i.e. not your current system).

Example: Your jump range is 45 ly. You are in system A, system B is 40 ly away from you, and system C is a further 40 ly straight away from B:

A ...40jy... B ...40jy... C

If you select / hover over your current system (A), B will have an orange arc but C won't,

If you select / hover over B, C will gain an arc.
This is (or at least WAS) the correct answer. Now that people have jump ranges bigger than the default zoom level, it may well appear to always highlight all systems.
In ye-olden-days it was usefull for navigating sparse regions so you could map a route in advance IN GAME. Nowadays people just use Spansh to follow someone elses route.

Second page of thread and still no screenshot of what the OP is talking about?? Really??

S'funny... I only see the half moon appear when I hover over a system. Then, ALL systems get a half half moon over them.

At first, I thought it indicated populated systems but that isn't the case.

Why is this thread still going? Aside from the uber-necro, it was answered in post 12. They show which systems you can reach in one jump.

Not sure this is true, Have a look at this:

Those half moons I've pointed to are around 90lys away, beyond the range of my 66lys Phantom. Unless I'm missing something here...

What's the blue circle (I don't have that on Xbox)? If that's where you're looking on the map, the systems with the arc will be based on distance from that system, not where you currently are.

Not sure what the blue circle is! :D

Ok. From the selected system, not from where I am. Gotcha. Thanks.
