Orange Sidewinder - Help?

I have been unable to load into the game for almost a week. I'm connected to Frontier's servers, as evidenced by the updated news feed on the main menu, as well as being able to view the ARX store. However, when I attempt to load into the game (doesn't matter if it's solo, open, private), I'm met with the orange model of my ship spinning for quite a while, and then dropping to the Orange Sidewinder error.

I contacted FDev support over the weekend via a ticket on the website, and after a couple days, they moved my commander to another system. However, I'm still unable to load in. I replied back to the ticket with an update, but have yet to hear back.

Curious if anyone else has had this error and found a way around it. Thanks.

orange sidewinders are the bane of my (ed) life
usually happens when there are loads of fleet carriers in the system you are in

the only fix I use is to quit the game, restart and then jump to another system (don't touch supercruise)

I can't load into the game to even jump to another system. From the main menu, I choose to continue, select my server type, watch my ship spin, then drop to the error. I was parked in Shinrarta Dezhra, and FDev support moved me to another nearby system. It didn't help.

I've cleared cache on my Xbox, restarted my network, and tested a couple other things per their support documentation. Nothing has helped. And while I know Fleet Carriers cause issues of their own, I don't believe it's related when I can't even load into the training sims from the main menu.

have you been able to get into the new system at all over the last week?
that's rough, if its still failing even after a hard reset and cache clear then I think you are stuck with FDev support

blimey have a look at the list of FC's in that system...

that's a ridiculous amount, might have something to do with it, for reasons unknown Xbox's and FC's just don't mix

Have you tried to delete and reinstall ED on your console? It might be a harsh option, but there could be a corrupted file that needs to be replaced.

That's going to be my next step if FDev doesn't have any luck. They replied a little bit ago and tried moving me to yet another system. Still didn't help. My only hesitation reinstalling is the monthly data cap my antiquated ISP has me under.

Oh yeah, that really sucks. ISP data caps are the devil. One other suggestion would be to try to move your ED installation to an external drive if you have one and run it from there. It would at least add some credibility to the idea that the installation is corrupted.

I moved it to my external, and then it failed to connect to the authentication servers at all. So... here goes nothing. Going to try reinstalling and see what happens.

Great time to be troubleshooting an Xbox problem...

check the time on your system. make sure it is in sync with an NTP server if possible. If not, set as close to the correct time as possible. I was crashing trying to jump to supercruise or to another system (not as bad as your load issue) and noticed i was just over five minutes fast compared to frontier's time in-game. Resync'd with time.nist.gov and no orange sidewinder errors for rest of day. Good luck, cmdr.

The outage us a global issue with MS servers.

My friend in Brazil told me it is the same for them.

NS will sort it sooner or later

Frameshift drive charging!

So, I'm not exactly sure what the resolution was, but I'm back in. FDev support moved me to a third system, I reinstalled the game, and Xbox Live outage be damned, I'm able to sign in and load into Elite. Safe flying, Commanders! o7
