Orbis or Ocellus?

Apart from the obvious external shapes are there actually any real differences in these stations. Yes ones a newer design and imperial, the other more of a federation thing.

But do they actually have differences? I think the orbis is supposed to have a greater population and the ocellus has been known to hyperspace and do science stuff or vice versa.

But in colonisation are there tangible differences to player built ones? Amount of grinding and reward equivalent?

Ocellus is Imperial but Orbis is used by both. From Reddit:

"Lorewise, the Orbis is a very old design, predating the existence of the Empire, so it makes plenty of sense that both would use it, and so would everyone else who needs something that big. It's a proven design.

The Coriolis station was designed by the Galactic Cooperative and adopted widely as it's a good design for a smaller station.

The Ocellus is the most recent design, being less than 50 years old and designed by the Empire's Gutamaya. But business is business and they sell them to most anyone with the cash or credit.

And of course, there's the constant changing of hands of stations and systems. You routinely see Independent or Federation stations proclaiming "Hail the Emperor" around the mailslot."

Well anarchy is a possibility…..Odin’s guys just took over my asteroid base, although A.C.E. faction are prevalent in most of my system and am expecting the well respected science group to make an appearance in the future.
