Orbiting, FSD, and more details for missions

1. Id love a way to orbit a planet and send down a smaller landing craft. Like, fly my Anaconda to a planet and send a smaller ship that can carry my SRV as well.

2. FSD. Please allow us to maintain accelleration for long in-system travel. Today I traveled .22ly and reached 1807c (very cool right!?) but then my FSD started decellerating at about .19ly. Frustrating. Id like to keep accellerating and trigger my own decelleration. Lets remember that supercruise is basically warp, therefore the ship never moves, therefore decelleration over an extended space isnt necessary.

3. Before embarking Id like details on distance in the systems. That way, I dont take another .22ly mission before work again!

1. I agree. I would love FD to expand the idea of SLF to be more ship's boat/ multi-purpose craft. This could be coupled with some additional PvE like big ships that cannot lift off from high-g planet, perhaps type of atmosphere in the future and suitability to fly in it, etc.

3. It is an extra step but you need to currently look at the system map and see how far the target is from the Jump drop-out point. This info is now included in the system map and for any system with multiple stars this is now a standard check I perform.

A hint is delivery of small number of basic commodities has a really high-seeming payout. Probably you will be spending a lot of time in SC travel, justifying the higher pay.

2. It has been proposed many times to have in-system micro-jumps just to other stars. Esp. since some stars in a single "system" are farther apart than stars in the core where jumping still works. IIRC Sandro said this is still an "open" conversation in FD but for the moment the winning view is no micro-jumps as that was the original concept, replaced by Super Cruise and FD feels the current setup gives the galaxy the right sense of scale and distance. Huge, innit?

My suggestion to help this is to allow faster speedup/slowdown of SC, especially when the target is obviously a huge distance away. I think the 15-30 minute+ journeys for missions are just dumb, particularly when the payout is not a million credits.

By the way, the slow down is due to approaching a gravity well (planet or sun). If you don't target the planet you are headed toward you will still slow down as is consistent with approaching a large object with gravity (space curvature). But with throttle full-forward the effect will be less and you will overshoot easily.

I think your "faster accelration/decelleration" is the way to go. Im not for micro jumps. I get the gravity well situation. Yet, since we are using an energy field to bend space there isnt any reason we cannot increase decrease the field at will. Since there isnt any actual velocity there is no reason to elongate the deceleration.
