Ships Orca Owners Club

We don't care that its not the best at anything other than Looking Good. We don't care that Frontier hasn't put in Passenger Missions yet. We are the Orca Owners, and we love it more than any other ship. Don't bother posting to discuss the perceived failures of this hull, I'll start a debate thread somewhere else. This thread is for Owners and their Orca.

I'm running a combat-ready Orca for light trade (64t cargo) with the Graphite skin named Damascus Blade.

My yellow darling is more geared towards trading, she has 104 ton cargo, the smaller modules is used for discovery and detailed surface scanning. Although if something like an Asp or smaller picks a fight I will gladly join it. And when they try to flee, they will quickly find out that they can´t.

Mwahahaha!

I would love too take it the center of the galaxy, but that will require a big detour since a straight line takes one to areas where the distance between the stars requires big jumps and those areas usually dominated by stars that you can´t scoop from.

No name yet but I call it "torpedo". Fast but not so found of turning.

Here's MineOrca "Lucky Strike" at Irkutsk, Alioth; I wanted a Miner for when 1.3 dropped drones on us, could have spent 30m and fully fitted an ASP, but a 70m Orca meant I could mine while in the Hot-tub...Bing! Whoosh!. Her Spec is in my sig.

Got to say I'm rather fond of her, and won't be selling her even if my use for her is currently very limited to fishing...I mean, mining trips.

EDIT: Plus this is my current wallpapaer.

Did not realise how fast these things were until I strapped 6A thrusters and a 5A distributor to it.. There is now a straw lodged in my throat from pressing boost while taking a drink.

I miss mine, and can't wait to have her again. Had it in beautiful blue paint, nicknamed it the "Celestial Resolve". Couldn't ask for more from a ship, really. Sure, it ain't the best at really anything, save for peeling paint off of Vipers trying to chase you down, but it's damned fun.

Got my Orca back again, it's definitely my favourite ship - so fast and fun to fly! Currently use mine for heavy (ish) trading (160tons) and looking classy doing it. Got a red paintjob on it and call it "The Crimson Fin" :p

My favourite as well.

I guess that's somehow related to that I'd probably like it the most "in real life": if I had to actually live in one of the ED spaceships for a longer period of time.

The view outside is very nice, especially when exploring, and it's fast, gracious, and spacious :) Never mind it's not the most practical ship around, especially now before you can transport passengers.

Mine is called "Bluefin", based on her current looks.

Hello everyone!
A new proud Orca owner here, and I really want to share something about the HUD color with you all…

I was never one to go and mess with the game code in the first place. Thought to myself, until Frontier brings an "in-game" function/option to change the HUD, I will not change the color. I saw great stuff on the internet, green, red, blue, you name it but my big problem with it all is that you lose the logic behind friendly (i.e. green) and foes (i.e. red).
You probably have noticed that the Orca's dashboard theme is not orange like stock ED but yellow and black (reference to the other instruments you don't actually use and all the extra screens in the cockpit)

Awkward? No more!

If you break my own rule, which I did and change the one line in Graphicsconfiguration.xml like so:
<MatrixRed> 1, 0.25, 0 </MatrixRed>
If you put three pips in the contrast/luminosity option on the right panel (in game)

You get something like this:

Slick hey?

Green stays green, blue stays blue, white stays white, only red is a dark orange (still easy to see who is the enemy on your radar)
Sorry if this is no news to you, but it's news to me and I'm real proud and happy about it.
