Orca vs Buluga

The Sheild could use a class 7.

It's a little silly to be carting around VIPs who demand first class, then also demand you to kill the federal assault ship that's hunting them.

Fair enough I cant combat in a beluga but at least let her tank some damage to let me get into the fighter!

Currently I' usually loose a ring or two by the time the fighter leaves the bay.

My jump range is 30 ly and with that huge fuel tank, I'm fairly satisfied.

Tho some minor issues with getting caught on the rear wings leaving the mail slot. I wonder if any ship kits are planned, I want rear spoiler big enough to fly my fighters through it.

I havnt had issues docking once I figured out the required horizontal position. just pull the nose up 20-30 degrees once you have landed.

The bad Jumprange of the Orca forced me to buy the Beluga.

Buyed some nice(expensive) Upgrades, and it flyes very well now.

Love the Brutal Boost sound.

The CockpitView ist just AMAZING!!

Totaly worth it!

Haven't flown either but by pure naming conventions

Orca > Beluga

why? without having to fly either ship, I know both of them are whales but another name for Orca is Killer Whale. So clearly it kills the Beluga (in performance, name-sake, and probably far as wildlife goes) :p

Don't do anything super long range, don't haul criminals nor passengers that don't like scans and the Beluga is fine. You can use the Orca for everything else (or a ship of your preference if you don't care about the Luxury slots) The reasons are: The Beluga more excels in bubble trips where you don't need a fuel scoop, the Beluga is too slow to outrun scans, and the Beluga runs too hot to mod for dirty drives. I have done all the sightseeing and bulk missions in the Beluga just fine. I imagine most will either run the Orca or another ship that suits their tastes. I find that both ships have their place and I am hoping that the Dolphin will excel at ferrying those explorers on the super long range trips that way all missions will have a good passenger ship to cover them.

My best guess:

- Beluga: Bulk and Bubble Sightseeing.
- Orca: Missions that require a bit more discretion and thruster speed.
- Dolphin: Missions that require extreme range travel (VIPs wanting to visit nebulae, Colonia, Sag*A, etc).

Seems logical to me but I guess we'll see when we actually have them all [yum]

Give l just spent over 140 million outfitting. I'm expecting more than a oversized bus.

The beluga is far too expensive to make your money back carrying economy passengers.

FDev sure does love releasing specialized / niche ships, then excessively crippling them in trade for a bonus that insufficiently makes them stand out from multipurpose ships.

Doesn't have to be economy. You can have 5 Luxury cabins and the rest business if you want to.

Beluga is by far the best dedicated passenger ship right now. Aside from being only one of two ships that can equip luxury cabins, it also has 10 internal slots (only the Anaconda has more). As passengers never share cabins, it's better to have more slots than few big ones like the Cutter.

Now if only they fixed the damn docking bug on it so I can unequip the docking computer!

Mind you, if you don't need Luxury cabins and are only doing one passenger mission at a time, I recommend the Asp due to its jump range. Just use the class 6 and 5 for a fuel scoop and passenger cabin and you're set for those long diatance explorer or sightseeing missions.

The problem with the Beluga docking doesn't seem like bug. I looked at the ship from the outside when I was having trouble getting it to dock and it was because the nose needed to be pulled up. From the inside of the ship it looked like I was straight but from the outside the rear was clearly too high. I make this adjustment every time I dock now and haven't had the problem again.

I'll give it a try, although there is known and acknowledged bug regarding docking on all ships. It used to be that you could land even if your ship was a touch inclined, but that seems to have changed. Players with large ships like to Cutter or Anaconda are complaining the most about it. Basically, the longer the ship, the worse it is.
