Ships Origami Stealth Plane?

When I first saw the Asp Scout, I thought, "wow what an utterly stupid design, who in their right mind would make such an ugly ship", but then I found a real military aircraft that actually looks quite a bit like new Asp Scout. Though it also looks like it was made by a drunk toddler with an origami fixation:

Stealth fighter. Those jagged lines were the best the computers at the time could manage to deflect radar and still be flyable. I must say, I really like the simplicity of the shapes with the Asp. It's possibly my favourite design for the elite ships. I'm looking forward to flying the Scout version and seeing what it can do. I think I'll be getting the free Viper MK 4 as well so also quite curious there... In fact I'm quite curious about all of them. The T6 is my favourite smuggler so I'm very much looking forward to seeing what the Keelback can do. The only ones I'm not so curious about are the big ones, but that's not a knock on them. I'm just not so into the big ships. My clipper is about as big as I want to get.

I am also not into big ships either. But the polygon-centric design in 2015 seems a little too quaint. Bordering on an antique fetish. The Asp is the worst offender in this regard. I try to imagine what the inside would look like, and I keep picturing an attic, where you bump your head any time you go into a corner of the ship, lol. What shape is the cargo stacked in there? Pyramids? And why is it bulky up front and tapered in the back? It looks like a mullet.

It just makes no sense. And it's ugly. Oh so ugly. I guess it bothers me because with a few changes in the nodal placement on this polygon, and it could have been a sleek and cool ship like the Cobra. But instead it looks all knobby and slapped together.

It is a dated look, for sure. I also had a bit of a giggle imagining the internal design, but for some reason I do find it pretty. Hands down the Cobra is THE iconic design. I still have the first one I purchased and go back to it from time to time.

I LOVE THAT JET! Only thing that I like more is the SR-71!....We need an SR plane in ED, faster than Crobra, runing colder than a DBS, and no gun's or just a couple small one's. :D

Nice.

This one looks like the old-school Asp, though I don't like the look (from the outside) of the R9 canopy on that shape, preferring a Faulcon deLacy looking one (for feel rather than practical reasons).

The F-117 looked the way it did because computers of the day lacked the power to come up with a smooth shape that would reflect radar from all angles, which is why it looked like the love child of Kryten and a triangle. I very much doubt stealth has anything to do with the looks of ED ships, though. For me the problem with the Asp scout is that they basically took the Asp Explorer and just took out a bunch of stuff. The explorer at least has some distinctive detail going for it that kind of excuses it's weird main body. With the scout the weird main body is all there is. I'll probably be giving that one a skip.

The Scout is amazing. Looks amazing, flys really, really well, puts a smile on my face dogfighting properly with fixed weapons after playing Bill Adama in my Anaconda.
