Horizons Osmium on a Planet?

Generally speaking, Osmium is something you find from Mining (in space).

When you find metals on planet surfaces (by shooting outcrops etc.) they're classified as Materials.
Osmium is a Commodity .. if you find it at all on a surface, you'll generally find it in barrels at POI's.

How much do you need, for what purpose and what area are you in?
I can supply you with some but I am near Farseer (and can't travel far).

Appreciate the info. Ha, mission expired today. When I found high metal planets, I thought I'd try mining there, but nothing showed (except for junk). With your info, I'll quit mining planets, unless a mission directs me there.

Thank again!

Mining at pristine metallic asteroid belts is the main source. Also available but with less frequency in rocky belts

Sometimes offered as mission rewards for errr... mining other stuff

Nowhere else as far as i am aware

Metal-rich rings, metallic asteroids. Mine. Don't think you can actually buy it on commodity markets, it's one of those that just vanishes out of the spacefaring economy as soon as you unload it.

Which it would, it's an absurdly useful metal with a very large number of applications. Densest naturally occurring element, part of the platinum group, probably a choke point in the making of all kinds of things that are purchasable on the commodity market.

I bet at a later stage they will add planetary mining, already you can see what planets have ores and what %age, as from prev elite series, space mining was a slow cheaper way to gather resources, while planetary mining was more expensive and took longer, but you could leave the mining gear behind and come back at a later date to gather what had been mined
