Ouch! I've Been Hit With A .303!

I've noticed a connection between the latest update, and all the complaints about botting. I have a speculation:

I don't want to be a bore on the subject, but the team at Frontier takes a long time to get things in it's sights. Knowing that an infamous video was available last year demonstrating botting, Frontier probably decided to take the shot, right then.

Considering the caliber of the opposition, it was going to be hard to target the bad guys.

So, they followed the old military maxim: If you can't hit the offenders, spray down the entire unit. Or, when in doubt, empty the magazine.

Group punishment. Because they can't get a tight enough grouping.

Botters operate AFK. With the increased number of events, Frontier must be hoping that the botters come back to a rebuy screen, due to a Golden BB.

Unfortunately we're caught in the crossfire. It's Blood, Mud, And Futility for us, until a sufficient number of casualties jam on Reddit, or uninstall.

Another one of these threads?

Seriously, if you have some evidence of botting, report it directly to FDev, like they have asked, there's no need for more drama threads.

I'm used to version 0.45, M 1911. :)

My Navy uncles laughed at anything under version 5.00/38. :)

Although, Uncle Bill's ship build was version 16.00. There's a plaque on the stern where the Japanese surrender took place.

A point 303 rifle was actually very accurate in its day...in the right hands...in the wrong hands it was a behemoth given to cadets to practice being soldiers with...

Hmm yanks and their guns...whats the connection here?

Hush now, all these naive young minds sleep soundly at night knowing that the victors write the history books...but only a fraction of what really happens is all they will ever know because they live out their lives never wanting to know...their efforts are noble but horribly wasted. Truth can be stranger than fiction sometimes and people only know what they are told ^

Ouch, we've been hit by another one of these threads. This one has much less the .303 proof and far less than .303 readability!

When it happens, I always ask for proof and none is ever provided.

OP, out of curiosity, I searched for this video proof and can't find it. Can you post of send me some search words to use in google which will reveal it? Surely that won't break the rules of the forum.

I just want to see one OP of these bot threads prove the validity of his ramblings for once!

Actually, the British Lee-Enfield .303 is the grandaddy of the NATO/STANAG 7.62 MM standard. We adopted, and adapted it.

Curiously, there is now a move back to a variant of the M-14. The 5.56 rounds are too short ranged, and don't have the stopping power of the old monsters. The M-14 can trace itself, back through the M-1, to the Lee-Enfield.

The pun-ishment will continue. :)

For those without a sense of humor, or military history, the botting will never stop. Version 3.03 is just a stopgap. They pumped up the action to both satisfy combat players, and to ambush the odd botter.

I simply couldn't resist the Lee-Enfield joke, the resemblances to Blackadder Goes Fourth (Frontier's resemblance to General Melchett and his plans is *astonishing*), and the chance to have some fun at the expense of the Brits.

Too bad some posters take things too literally. This forum is a "tough room". Lighten up, Francis. :)

I had to carry twelve pounds-plus of M-14 in OCS. Ouch.

There could be some interesting times with future releases;

Release 3.3.8 will be very well received especially by those with an intricate knowledge of the game and an understanding that sometimes the biggest isn't the best

Release 5.0 will be BIG, but only for those with the largest ships. It will be lauded as being the biggest and best, but those in the know will still recognise 3.3.8 as being the supreme release

Release 5.5.6 will probably be railroaded in by players from the USA but will be found to be weak powered and liable to go off at a tangent at the slightest obstacle.

Release 7.6.2 will bring a lot of old veterans back to the game. The forums will be full of reminiscing on how this is the perfect release and tales of how good it was 'back in the day'. The good news is a lot of the astute newer players will also recognise the value of 7.6.2, especially when comparing it against the US lead 5.5.6 release. Of course there will also be a lot of comparisons between this Release (7.6.2) and the old 3.0.3 Release, some even claiming they were nearly identical!
