Ouch, slight disappointment.

Any update is a good update on the KS but I hoped that the interview part 2 would be more 'bonus' than something many people have waited a week for... And I certainly hope that we won't be waiting another few days just get part 3 and nothing else!

As interesting as it is to hear about how the crowdfunding etc - people who didn't pledge yet are going to want to hear about Elite: Dangerous.

It doesn't have to be in-game footage (that would be lovely though) - but more talk directly about planned features like the dev diaries (especially dev diary 2, that was a really good insight) would be more value than an off-topic interview right now!

I don't want to come across as unreasonably demanding, you have my money anyway - I'm just wavering a bit on the whole 30 days to go thing and the amount raised so far (since half of it was on day 2); and I really want the target to be reached and the game we've all been waiting for to be made.

What do we really want to hear about? That's up to everyone - but I would want to hear something in more depth about planetary landings and ship customizations - these are big, important parts of Elite IMO.

Kipper - totally agree.

Just watched Part 2 and whilst it was interesting in itself it didn't actually tell me anything about the game. Dev diary 1 & 2 were great : The first one showing in game footage of a dog fight (simplistic one with a great "oops" at the end) and the second with some information on galactic dynamics.

However, the actual details of the game itself are really sparse - I understand that not everything is set in stone but come on ...

Like you I have pledged and FD have my money (or will should be it successful) but how about for those who are sat on the fence ?

- 15 ships .. what kinds ? Any from the old Elite series ? Rough sketches ? Background information on them ? Rough stats ?
- Customisation .. there are ships - how are they bolted together ? Give us some preliminary ideas on the direction you want to do it. There are weapons - are they standard pieces you buy in shop or can we mod them ? (using in game items)
- Commodities ... many kinds .. How many ? How will pricing be done at the vendors ? I know different star systems will have varying prices - how about within the star system itself ?
- Factions .. who "lives" in the galaxy ? What are their backgrounds ? What are their motivations ? Why should we care about them ?
- Careers ? Professions ? Skills ?

Many threads here offering our suggestions as to what we *think* might be in game .. I do understand that many of these are not defined yet but they must have SOME idea .. give us a clue ..

Happy and sad at the same time here.

One thing I would add, based upon the video we just saw - Daily interactions is key ... Give us some bits of information daily and it will keep us hungry for more .. starve us and we may die (and potential backers get bored and move on) :)

Was trying to say maybe a little bit harsh before my laptop went mental on me!

I'd rather see that video, than have just the concept art. Although I do agree more could be shared about what's in mind, but not necessarily ready.

I thought the art looks awesome btw.

Well he did admit in the video that they could have been better prepared for the Kickstarter.
As we now entering the last 4 weeks of the campaign, I would like to say one thing to DB and Frontier Developments.

TAKE CHRIS ROBERTS ADVICE.

All I ask for is FD/DB to 'sell the game to us'. Or at least those of us who aren't existing Elite fans who have blindly handed over our wallets on pure faith :)

Liqua is spot on - there are so many subjects that can be covered without needing to show another second of gameplay (assuming there's no more of that due to how early development is).

DB is clearly enthusiastic about the project, all here are 100% behind him on it and want to see it succeed. The audiences to try and crack are the US market, and the younger gamers who might have played X:BTF but aren't old enough to remember FE2 or FFE.

And even if this was just a reboot of FFE with posh graphics - it would STILL be offering something that no other game has done or is currently doing, and that's the kind of thing that will make more people get on board and pledge money.

It would just be the cruelest thing ever if we 'almost' got Elite 4 and then it slipped beyond our grasp at the last minute.....

Yup, want to see a developer diary, sketches of the ships... info, info, info - even if it is tentative and could change later!

Frontier - you have to sell this to the people out there! OK, we've seen some dogfighting in a Gas Giant's rings, that's pretty cool - but it doesn't blow you away, does it? You need to release a 'trailer' type video as soon as possible - as others have said, it would be the cruellest thing to have waited so long - to have so much hope now - and for that to be yet another false dawn.

The clock is ticking...

Sod it, I was going to wait until Sunday to check the Kickstarter, but...

Wow... we haven't even hit £700,000 yet - and we're now into the Twenties as far as days are concerned. Step it up, Frontier. You keep saying you really want to make this game, well show us!

Dig out Frontier Elite 2 and make a video of the introduction using Elite D's engine - that'll do the trick!! And then show us some ships flying towards the camera blasting at each other - and explosions! Lots of explosions! I know the game isn't just about fighting, but that is what will get the pledges flowing again!

Surely they haven't finished nearly enough of the game to make a trailer? I imagine that what we saw in the dogfighting video is as good as it gets for now, because that's all of the gameplay that's finished enough to show.

But I agree about the false dawn - this is likely the only shot we have at getting E4 made. If KS fails, it also proves to any investors that there isn't enough market potential. I hope I'm wrong.

If they've got ships flying around and shooting at each other, how hard is it to simply shoot that from other camera angles, so it looks more exciting? That would be a start. I agree that if this Kickstarter fails, we'll never see Elite 4 and that would easily be the biggest ever disappointment of my gaming life. I'm sure I'm not alone in that sentiment.

I think you're spot on! (Apart from explosions, and lots of explosions; i think there should be even more explosions!)

Elite veterans are already sold, so some eye candy and a cinematic trailer should help bring in the younger audience and people sitting on the fence.

I really want this game to be made so much!

UNfortunately when I saw part 1 of the vid, Eric and I were talking on KS and I told him "I bet we will get part 2 as the next weekly update so this means 1.5 weeks will the next proper ELITE update at worst case scenario".

I just knew they would want to stretch it out more. A real pity. So one week to go for the next dev diary .....we hope.

I share everyone's sentiments here and I don't even go to the KS page anywhere near as often anymore now.

We all share the same feeling re updates so no need for me to say more on this.

I reckon I'm going to check it once a week now: any more than that doesn't seem worthwhile. It's going reaaaaaalllly sloooowly at the moment - the timing was actually really bad, what with Christmas and everything coming up.

I only check once or twice a week as the comments depress me :)

I still think we'll make it, and I'll believe that right up to the last second of the kickstarters end.

I think it's going to be a nerve-wracking last few days!!

It brings me back once again to: why couldn't Frontier just go ahead and make the damn game without all this Kickstarter business - are they that concerned about the market, or would it mean selling their souls to the Devil (AKA a publisher) with all the drawbacks that entails?

I do believe the game means a lot to DB, and after the problems in the past with FFE the opportunity to cut out the publisher is definitely the way forward for Elite for everyone.

It means he can make the game we all want without the usual publisher pressures. However, kickstarter brings a different kind of pressure with high expectations from the backers!

i am eagerly awaiting more dev diaries and i don't think DB/FG is doing enough to get more people in on the kickstarter, not compared to what SC managed to get out of updates and videos

It's way off the target, isn't it? The pledges have been getting lower and lower, that's why we're so far behind 'the run rate' - we need to hit a few boundaries!

The English here will get what I'm going on about, and the Aussies. ;)

The video was great though as usual but.
I see there is a part 3 so I guess next week will be part 3 and then maybe the week after that will be a dev diary. David did say they are doing the next dev diary though so maybe it will be an inbetween one. .hopefully.

@Space Pirate same I'm going to start checking in maybe 1-2 times a week now.

The KS comment thread is also starting to pick up on the slowing down/poor quality of the 'updates' theme. Personally, I found the single piece of concept art ( Space Station docking bay ) more interesting than the interview. Neither is really going to do anything to bring in the fence-sitters or new-to-Elite crowd.

As was said before - Take Chris Roberts advice David/Frontier!!! The bit about quality updates, not 'connecting with the fans'. You've alreadt got the fans onboards and pledged up - it's the new blood you need to sell sell sell to.

I want to be at the launch party, right? so pull your fingers out!
