Newcomer / Intro Out of fuel - Can't make the jump back

Hello,

I used google, I searched and searched... and I found that I can "call for a reserve fuel" or put a "distress beacon".

But as usual, it does not tell you HOW?

So guys, how can I get back to a station to refuel myself?

Thank You

:*

At the moment you cannot use a distress beacon to call for reserve fuel, this was apparently taken out of the game when the fuel scoops were added. I am afraid to say if you dont have a scoop fitted and are out of fuel so cannot get to a station that offers outfitting or refueling, then unfortunately your only option is to self destruct.

Fuel scoops all the way. They're on the market for awesome prices. Starting at 300Cr. Don't miss your chance! :D

I do feel for you, though. Some mistakes are more costly than others. I hope you're still in your free Sidey. :)

Why? A sos call should be normal in a civilized space.

I feel your pain as I am one who has also run myself out of fuel. Sitting there experiencing my character suffocate to death was really immersive though and I'm glad I didn't just click self destruct like I would normally do.

We're not in civilized space. ;)
I bet the first thing the Distress beacon would attract would be pirates. :D

Somewhere you are. Like in Sol with all those shiny white stations. It seems the federation waste money on useless things and don't think about the real needs. I'm gonna go to the Empire.

We do have shiny white garden stations with beautiful turqoise lights. But at least we have slaves to paint them for us. No real resources wasted. :p

I was checking out the fuel scoops, and ye there cheap, but it means losing another internal part of my ship, as my starter ship doesn't have any free slots.
And all the parts on it seem important to me

And just how much would you expect to pay for that sort of service.

Certainly a lot less than replacing a whole space ship and regrowing a clone of myself. :) Certainly in a universe full of people looking to make a buck there would be plenty of opportunists who would be happy to charge you 2000 credits for the 20 credits worth of fuel you need to jump to the nearest system where you could fill up. It makes no sense to remvoe that funcitonality from the game just because the fuel scoop was added in. I've never understood anyone who defends this sort of illogical decision by the devs. It's stupid that in the 34th century you can't call for a tow truck to bring you some gas.

All of Elite Dangerous is compromise, not every ship is great at everything or can do everything. Depending on your gameplay style you might find the discovery scanner more important than cargospace, or the other way round, hoever for me, the fuel scoop is the most important internal component to have fitted.

Yea I'm on my first free ship.

I made it back guys. I tried to jump first to the closer star that had a station but it told me that "cargo 0.60" error. So I just jumped from system to system and I barely made it. I even forgot to request docking lol.
Now I'm going to try to rise money for a new ship. What's a good ship for trading/exploring? (edit: is Adder ok?)

Thanks

Adder is awesome for a start. She's kinda crossbreed between the Hauler and Viper. :)
She has good number of internal compartments to fit every role, plus is reasonably agile and can have two C1 and one C2 weapons.

You only need to get used to sitting on the right side of the cockpit, but if you're English it won't be a problem. :)

If you'll make do with "C" grade modules, you should squeeze yourself under 200k, but in fact Adder is one of the ships that is actually very usable "right from the box"

2000CR? I can make that doing a BB courier mission.

I'd charge a lot more than 2000 CR to bail someone out. It would be more 20K CR, or 10K CR and donating 10-20 units of their prime cargo. Basically, less than the insured value of their ship + the value of their cargo. So they'd save a SOME money calling for help, but it would hit their wallet hard enough to teach a lesson about managing the fuel gauge. ;)
