Out of fuel right next to Altair

My wing and I were chasing a commander in a Fer De Lance (who unfortunately escaped), but during the chase, I noticed that my fuel tank had drained. I don't have a fuel scoop, and there's no station/outpost nearby.

If my wing-mate drops me a couple of cannisters of fuel, can I recharge? Anything I can do at all?

Sorry dude, I feel your pain. There's nothing to do but self-destruct.

As to why your bros can't just drop you some hydrogen fuel and let you gas up, I'll never understand.

There ought to be an ability to call in a refuel ship. But it should cost ya. Cheaper than self destruct though. Or just let a friend refuel you if he is in vicinity.
