Out of gas in the middle of nowhere

Hey guys,

So I ran out of gas in a system with no stations in it! I was on my way somewhere (trying to find Empire-aligned systems but all I see are Feds and Alliance and independants) and the game bugged out and wouldn't let me jump (it said it was obscured although I was looking right at the nav point) or even enter hyperdrive - so I jumped back the way I came (only choice) and now don't have the fuel to get anywhere....

My question is..... What now?! How can I get to a station to refuel with no fuel? Also, why did this single jump use 80% of my fuel when jumping TO the system only used like 10%?

If you want to save fuel use economical routes. Fast routes are for those who can waste large amounts of fuel with the longest distances possible by their FSD/fuel usage per jump.

Your only choice is to self destruct. You made a boo boo. Carry a fuel scoop until you learn the ropes.

hmmm fuel scoops would solve the problem for sure :D

as for the navigation options, maybe you used 40% of your fuel on your previous jump and jumping back to the same system used the remaining 40%

Welcome to Elite. Time to hit that self destruct button. You can find it on the last menu on your right at the very bottom.

Are you in a sidewinder still @strager? If so, self destruct and start at your last station with a free sidewinder again, actually, that's all you can do anyway unfortunately.

Get a fuel scoop next time and skim along yellow stars after coming out of warp before heading out to the next point in your route, saves a lot of credits too.

Ignore the inevitable posts of jerks enjoying your mistake, it's all they have.

I feel your pain, I tried to make my way to Leesti to start my very first rare trade run only to find that I didn't have enough fuel, taught me to always pack a fuel scoop for really long trips.

The real trick is to plan your refuels. Also, the jump didn't take 80%. It couldn't. The most a single jump could ever take is 45% of your fuel capacity, and that's only on some ships, if you have an A grade FSD and hit a target at exactly your max jump range.

Well, I suppose if you downgrade your fuel tank to a smaller tank, you can use more than 45% then.

Note the route planner will tell you when you'll run out of fuel - lines will turn to dashed from solid. Find a system with a station before hand and set that as your route if you plan to do a long haul.
