Ship Builds & Load Outs Outfitting an adder for trading, cargo hauling

Im trying to outfit my adder to be ok/good at trading and cargo hauling. I've been trying to plan ahead on what I want to outfit my ship with, heres what I have:

What do you guys have to say about this? My weapons strategy was to take down shields and go into a slugging match with "brass knuckles", so to speak.
 
weapons have no defensive value in ED, so if you are really planning a hauling vessel, you can simply drop those. if you insist on weapons, i recommend a turret on an adder (for exampel medium beam turret), and missiles, to take down pirates interdicting you fast.

adders hull is quite weak, so military bulkheads won't help much and slow you down. If you like the added security of HRP, fit a class 1 ...

if you have horizons and access to farseer/martuuk and/or palin, buy enhanced performance thrsuters in outfitting there - your adder will outrun any npc than.
 
My general advice with early cargo running is to forget trying to even fight back on a cargo ship. This lets you focus more on jump range and cargo capacity so that you can get to the middle tier ships sooner. The advantage with this focus is that you can hold onto the ship and use it just to move around quickly between systems.

With the hauler, you technically get more bang for your buck and a faster boost speed while using that 350k credit difference to put toward an eagle for combat if you want some variation in play.

While working toward a cobra or asp for higher cargo capacity.

Agree with this completely, I use my adder a lot for just running around and missions etc, but grade 5 FSD gets me almost 34ly jumps and enhanced thrusters with L3 dirty drives mean over 600ms boost. it really transforms the ship and definitely makes it great fun to fly.

But to get your weight down, dump the weapons, hrp, bulkheads etc - you wont need them if you run from an interdiction, and tbh nothings gonna save you in a small ship except speed!
