Outfitting cobra for exploration with 300000 cr

I just bought a cobra and have 300000 cr to spend on upgrades. I already installed a fuel scoop but any other suggestions are appreciated. Thanks!

Detailed surface scanner get's better sale prices, also the longer your max FSD jump range the better(try for at least just over 20) extra fuel never hurt's either.
 
Honestly I recommend with 300,000 cr is to upgrade stock standard Cobra MkIII to the following

For exploration I would remove weapons(they add mass)....remove shields and replace with more fuel..like has been said you need to extend your jump range over 20ly's

Do you really think it is wise to have NO weapons or even defensive capabilities for deep space exploration?

I own a Cobra MK III playing exclusively in SOLO mode and for whatever reason, I am constantly getting Interdiction Attempts thrown at me even if I am not carrying any black market cargo or valuable metals or minerals. (Fortunately, I always managed to fly close enough towards that ESCAPE VELOCITY TARGET that I foil these attempts to drop me out of hyper space)

Seems like the ship itself is the target of these pirates or whomever they are! Can that actually be the case? They are after the ship itself?

Anyway.. Based on how often I am confronted by the bad guys while totally minding my own business, I would NEVER fly around in an unarmed Cobra!

To be honest mate I have had no probs being so far out....also when coming back into civilised space I only ever have npc's try to pull me out of suspercruise but most of the time I avoid it...so weapons are useless and they add weight...obviously when the servers get populated with real players and getting jacked becomes the norm then I may switch it up....but for me they are not required as an explorer because im no where close to any one

Well, I do have to admit that getting away from these hijacking attempts seems to be relatively easy to do, and I have only once engaged one with my weapons when they succeeded in pulling me out of Hyper-Cruise. Could have just as easily ran from them and jumped back into Hyper instead.

But if you remove all your hardpoints, you can't use those empty slots for additional exploration oriented hardware right? Things like a Discovery Scanner and stuff like that?

No mate if you remove your weapons you can not replace them hard points with things to aid in exploration....you can in the modules though....as I use hauler I replace all cargo holds with extra fuel....and remove shields and replace with fuel scoop.....

Right! I have an Adder as my secondary ship and I have been trying to outfit it as a Miner/Explorer class. Currently it has beam lasers, but I will try removing those and see how much more range I get. The er for me is only having (5) slots for all the various scanners and stuff.

For example... I want a Docking Computer to aid in approaches and docking with stations, but I also need a Fuel Scoop, a Discovery Scanner, Collector Limpet, Refinery and a Shield Generator. Obviously, not all of those I just listed will fit in an Adder so I have to decide what vital component to leave behind which seems nuts to me!

For my last trip, I went without a Fuel Scoop and Discovery Scanner and that sucked! No future credits from logging astronomical bodies, and lack of freedom to roam because of no Fuel Scoop!

You were able to survive against enemy fire without having any active shields? How much can your average hull take with no shields? You said that you replaced your Shield Generator with a Fuel Scoop? I am in the outfitters right now, and when I click on my SHIELD GENERATOR and go shopping, no Fuel Scoops are showing up to buy instead. ??

Any idea why that is?

I haven't gone back out since cause I am still trying to figure out how to better outfit this ship.

The Cobra should be more resilient than my Db Scout and I survived an encounter with 1 Cobra and 2 Eagles(I had no shields or guns too) with 79% hull and light damage to three modules worst of which was the thrusters that were down to 96%
