No mate if you remove your weapons you can not replace them hard points with things to aid in exploration....you can in the modules though....as I use hauler I replace all cargo holds with extra fuel....and remove shields and replace with fuel scoop.....
Right! I have an Adder as my secondary ship and I have been trying to outfit it as a Miner/Explorer class. Currently it has beam lasers, but I will try removing those and see how much more range I get. The er for me is only having (5) slots for all the various scanners and stuff.
For example... I want a Docking Computer to aid in approaches and docking with stations, but I also need a Fuel Scoop, a Discovery Scanner, Collector Limpet, Refinery and a Shield Generator. Obviously, not all of those I just listed will fit in an Adder so I have to decide what vital component to leave behind which seems nuts to me!
For my last trip, I went without a Fuel Scoop and Discovery Scanner and that sucked! No future credits from logging astronomical bodies, and lack of freedom to roam because of no Fuel Scoop!
You were able to survive against enemy fire without having any active shields? How much can your average hull take with no shields? You said that you replaced your Shield Generator with a Fuel Scoop? I am in the outfitters right now, and when I click on my SHIELD GENERATOR and go shopping, no Fuel Scoops are showing up to buy instead. ??
Any idea why that is?
I haven't gone back out since cause I am still trying to figure out how to better outfit this ship.
