Outpost Landing DirectionI

Are there any visual indicators or hard and fast rules about which way you approach and land on an outpost?

I always seem to come in from the wrong side and have to do the turn of shame.

some directional landinglights wouldn't go a miss.

The number you see in orange letters shows you the direction. Always point your view directly to that number within the yellow blinking field area. Only one side of this area is displaying the number. Use your radar to land. Deploy landing gears and hover over the landing pad. Radar will change and a beeping sound will appear when you are positioned correctly.

When u go to land there is a catwalk, bridge...etc. Catwalk to your right. And u should also see the rear of your ship in the display of your ship in landing assist

look for the ramp or incline at the end of the landing pad. you want to be facing away from that. there's usually a pair of tall lights on the other end or a set of buildings that's what you want to be facing.

Number direction and where the radar are spining around you need to come from that direction so you see them infront of you.

Thanks. I get the landing, helper widget etc, I just want to know what to look for on approach as I can come in from the right direction.

One side of the pad has what looks like large blast shields and the other has smaller numbered/lettered shields. Put your nose facing the smaller lettered blast shields.

Landing gear down
full speed , aim for the landing pads circle.
button off as you come down (2 bars of acceleration)
once you lined up and blue on target, throttle stop then F key to descend or A/D key to turn so you face forward, the F key

Last night at an outpost, I noticed that the pad number was reading "02" and the hologram wall showing it was in the front of the bay. Then as I flew passed it (to the open pad "behind" that holowall) I expected it to show "20" (the backwards version of "02"). To my surprise, it once again showed "02" and the holowall (which didn't move) was on the back of the pad. I came in and landed.

So I guess the end of the pad that shows the pad number is the back and you should come in facing that.

You should also be facing the "Tower" its not as big as the ones in the station but you can see the structure / windows (tip, put landing lights on, makes it a lot more obvious) (and the ramp with the yellow triangle should be behind you).

Make a note of the pad straight away, last night I had pads being the opposite way around (eg having to face the ramp to land, landing radar shows where you need to face), the pad lights cutting out a few times in a station or outpost (so spot your pad asap) and the landing radar not working (I had spotted the pad then the number disappeared, I came in to land and am in the middle of the pad, still no landing radar ??, touch down & dock just fine).

All ticketed (and may be fixed already, I will find out shortly), but just a heads up, I managed OK as been playing 6 months but new players would really struggle.
