Over clock thrusters?

Is it possible to over clock thrusters? From what I understand thrusters work by ship mass. So the higher the mass the less effective they are. But is it possible to go the other way? Take my asp for example. I have what I believe to be the highest rated thrusters I can get but not a lot of mass and it seems that the vertical thrust is too much! If I try to manoeuvre my ship up or down it seems to not be able to stop, even long after I have stopped pressing the button. Even trying to thrust the other way doesn't seem to counteract. It's the same with deacellerating. Getting to top speed is fine but slowing down is just a nightmare!! Or is this all just because of how the asp moves?

That's a quirk of the asp and a couple of other ships. If you try something like the FAS you'll find that it doesn't drift as much.

I did wonder if I was overthinking things XD kind of wish I'd stuck with my DBX. Oh well, I'll have to learn that I'm not starring in some epic space movie and stop making such perilous landings at stations!!

All ships have fixed top speed at some point when lowering its mass.

Hopefully we might be able "overclock" thrusters by a bit with Engineers help, when they will be ready.

It's why, IMHO, the asp is such a hair-raising proposition for smuggling.
She can scream into a station to avoid a scan, then it's me who screams for the 10 minutes or so it takes to slow her down before hitting the back wall... or not.

I, too, really hope that this is an example of the type of stuff "Engineers" can help with (after we've bought them their tea...or hair)

Fingers crossed.

Hahahaha!! This is exactly why I posted this thread! My attempts at smuggling for big bucks have been more terrifying not because of the interdictions but because of trying to brake and avoid the 'bump' at the back of the stations in time 😂
