Over half my population disappeared overnight?

My system population dropped from 13.46 million, to 6 million overnight. What the heck? (in fact the 13.46 million figure was updated by another Inara commander at 9:33AM today, so 7 and 1/2 million population went poof in three hours?)

Did you finish a construction? There seems to be a bug where finishing a station can reset the accumulated population even though it should just make the system bigger.

I finished one Saturday Night. Population increased slightly between then and Sunday Morning. When I went to bed at around 1AM last night it was 13.46 million. Woke up this morning and Inara had been updated at 9:33AM, still 13.46 million. Logged on at around 12:30 PM and it was dropped to 5.99 million.

When I completed my first Coriolis a few weeks back (the second station in the system after the initial outpost, had built a few settlements/installations first), the next day the population dropped from 10 to 2.7 million. It's crept back up to 3.47 million since, but I remain wary about building more ;)

They know about the Coriolis resetting system population bug and have said they're looking at it but that they don't have an ETA on a fix at this point. We do know it's a bug and we can assume that much like the initial addition of pop growth once they figure it out they'll backdate the pop growth. For most people several million is enough market and you can just build away. For the few people with a requirement for huge markets don't build secondary coriolis at this stage.

That's good news if it's on FDev's radar. Was there a dev post or something? I had a quick rummage in the issues tracker but could only spot three unconfirmed tickets (two of which had expired).

We were talking to customer support directly after we replicated it twice in a row. So there's an element of trust me bro due to that. Trust me bro they have it in their internal issue tracker.

This happened to my colony as well. I finished building a Ocellus starport in a 101 million population system, and lost 2/3rds of the population instantly. Now I have only 34 million.

if you built a coriolis it has a bug where it kills your current population and future population growth rate (unless you build more ports after that arent also coriolis)

this also kills your markets from growing fast as well, this has been reported to support and they are still working on finding whats causing it last time i reported a bug related to this.

there’s also a bug where if a coriolis or ocellus/orbis is build above a planet with a planetary outpost or planetary port the population drops and grows significantly slower afterwards.

based on what i’ve seen population appears to be 1/3rd of what it should be. this may also happen with orbital outposts, but I cannot confirm this.

this was fixed as of their last patch notes

it is most definitely not.

This system experienced a drop in population months ago which it has yet to recover from to this day. a planetary outpost will provide about 10-12 million population until growth starts decreasing significantly. it is pretty evident that this is not the case with this system.

This system has a planetary outpost on a seperate planet from the coriolis. as you can see, the population is perfectly fine.

This system had a population of 17 million due to the planetary port I had build. once the ocellus was completed, the population dropped to 6 million. it is now increasing again, but much more slowly than it should with two T3 stations being present in the system. this system was build after the patch as well.

it has been fixed, however previously affected systems werent restored and left in their broken states, building ports over planet ports no longer decreases the population and breaks the population growth.

unless you build a coriolis anywhere in the system as that is broken and still does it all by itself.

f Puppis was build after the patch so this is not correct

i built an orbital above a settlement after the patch and it didnt happen, so my experiance says the patch is correct, the orbital port however was not a coriolis which is still broken.
in my case it wasn't a coriolis either, it was an ocellus above a planetary port so god knows really

Same here, constructed an Ocellus yesterday and saw the system's population drop from ~17.3 million to ~9 million. Maybe all the navvies shipped out.
