Over the weekend this game got buggy as hell

I have been playing all week and had a very good time and since today everything I do is just of waist of time. First I could not claim my rewards from passenger missions. Those missions took a lot of time to complete. So I stopped playing for a few hours hoping it would be fixed by now.

I launch the game again a few moments ago. Go over the mission board and pick the easiest mission. "Donate credits" What do you think happened? Indeed a connection error. I'm done. Not gonna waist anymore time for nothing. This game is broken.

I think both passenger missions and donations are broken atm, I would avoid them till FD fix it

I have not done either and not experienced any bugs, so stick to everything else might be best for now

Frustrating, isn't it? But the game isn't bugged, or broken (at least in these instances), it's just a network/server/transaction issue. The servers often get stressed at weekends, and there are a hell of a lot of new PS players online for their first weekend. It's like heading to the beach on a holiday weekend - expect delays and heavy traffic.

Missions in general seem to be broken but I think donations are the most consistent (they always give you an adjudication server error). I came back after a few weeks break. Now I'm thinking I might take another break from ED and come back sometime later.

And I guess nobody works over the weekend at Frontier?
Have you tried ordering and installing server upgrades during a weekend? ;)

And how wide do you think the waist of time is now? Summertime, several weeks off, nothing to do but laze around on a beach. It has to be ginormous! Definitely time for a diet come autumn.

You are asking the wrong guy because I do web design and if there is one service that works 24/7 it's the guys that manage the servers :D So yes I have ordered such services over the weekend. The question is rather is there someone at Frontier that can order them over the weekend.

And the comparison with vacation doesn't hold up. I have been flying from star system to star system. CEO's, Rich tourists, even refugees! All of them had a very good time. Got to their destination without being blown up in to space. I have been doing very hard work and now I'm not getting paid because there is no one at the office at Frontier? I think it's time to start a Commander Union and go on strike. :p

I could be thinking of another game but I'm sure theres been times some patches and fixes came at like 1s and 2s in the morning their time weekends and all kinds with devs sitting up all night and am trying to get fixes out the door and keeping us up to date on the forums before we had a fit on when it was coming. I'm pretty sure that was this.

That was PC though, it takes alot longer and is more expensive with less room for error to get a PS4 patch out the door. Cant really hotfix the next day as easy on PS4 if things go pear shaped. So it needs much more testing

Goof to know. In that case they are now working their socks off and there is just way too much problems. I'll be patient.

You are comparing ordering server space to ordering new servers. You, as a web guy, use a company which already has servers in place. If FD use dedicated servers rather than dynamic cloud services where the hardware already exists, it can be hard to add more of it (if that's the problem). Of course, with most of the networking which all game modes use being web stuff, it could be something as simple as timeouts being set to high, and adjusting them down would magically make everything fine for anybody trying to hand in missions :)

You COMPLETELY misread that. Read it again. Also: Check the spelling. It's called humour. Try it!

Doesnt console patch testing vertifications slow the progress down on PS4, plus they probably have to sync all 3 platforms or there abouts, so things take a bit longer now.

The donation thing is not going to require a patch I don't believe as it was something that has gone wrong on all platforms recently with no intervention from client patches, assuming they can sort it, it should be a minor fix to do.

It should not need a client patch. I am hoping so anyway! (the issue exists on all the platforms at the moment).

There's no longer a gauntlet of verification to get through on consoles, so anybody can push out patches as needed. Certain online games have very frequent patching, particularly MMOs. It used to be a $40000 one-time fee per patch after the first one on Xbox, and probably something near that for Playstation, but they stopped being silly about it.

Of course that doesn't rule out developers holding back patches to keep platforms in sync with features :/

No wonder so many games got left broken and you had to wait 6 months for a two min fix cos it was chucked in with the DLC.

Yeah I've been frustrated with all the server errors as well. There really is no good excuse for it, unless FDev is being targeted by a major DDOS attack. If it's just weekend traffic bringing down the servers, then that's poor planning on FDev's part.
