Hardware & Technical Overclocked i5 Bundle

Finally getting around to upgrading my system and wanted a) a sanity check on my choice and b) thoughts on supplier..

I currently have an FX-8320 with 16Gb DDR3 RAM, various SSD, 1 x 2TB spinning disk and a 6Gb GeForce GTX1060 all in a Silencio 550 case.

I'm looking to upgrade to an i5 7600k overclocked to 4.8Ghz, 16Gb DDR4 3000Mhz, on an Asus Prime Z270-P cooled by a Dark Rock 3 and am looking at purchasing from Scan (www.scan.co.uk) as a preassembled/overclocked bundle.

This comes in at £569 but Asus have a cashback of £60 so its only just above my preferred budget of £500.

I need to buy in the next couple of days as my wife is going away for a break and I'll be taking advantage of her absence to do the upgrade and Elite myself to death :)

Any thoughts on the spec or the supplier? Seen any other good bargains for the £500 mark?

Thanks in advance,
Cmdr A

Looks good. Can recommend scan. You know that if you join avforums you get free delivery at scan: https://www.avforums.com/pages/scan_free_delivery_offer/

I have that CPU cooler, I love the industrial look and the fan is whisper quiet.

Speaking from experience, don't forget to practise your answer to "did you miss me?" so that it sounds somewhat convincing ;)

Well, just placed the order with Scan and expect delivery on Sat 3 Jun, I veeeeeeery much doubt that I'll be allowed to touch the package until Monday but will try to push my luck ;)

My personal preference (If I had the money) would have been RYZEN, bought separately a B350 board & 6 Core Ryzen 5 1600 costs a little under £300 with Corsair Vengence 3000Mhz DDR4 @£123 & Free next day delivery too (on all the bits).

£423... Hmm, if only I had the money...

Only an idiot would purchase the 163mm high be quiet! Dark rock Por 3 cooler without checking his case would take the beastie....

And this idiot has now had to buy a ThermalTake Suppressor F31 case to fit his new toy - should arrive tomorrow so still on the FX-8320 at the mo... <sigh>
