For people who don't know , there is a very good app for Elite dangerous which works with Overwolf too :

You can, for exemple, keep a logbook, save your trade roads, make friend groups and plan events, and there is a Radio sidewinder integrated now : )
I also use the webbrowser of Overwolf to check a war zones and community goals list on this site (french and english ) : http://www.vocals.ovh/zone-conflit/
For the button with galnet news, we'll have to wait for somebody to make a small overwolf app for that... or you can use the webbrowser : )
