PA On a Python

Finally managed to get the 7A Power Plant added and now have a bit more available juice to play with, thinking about sticking a 3B Plasma Accelerator on the bottom large hardpoint, anybody running a PA on their Python? Turn rate and lat/vert thrusters even on 6A aren't the fastest so wondering if keeping it on target for sub-system sniping is a viable option.

Ran with one for a while but ended up going back to cannons. PAs are tough to hit with, and take a lot of power to fire. Now when you do hit with them... the damage is incredible! So definitely worth playing around with, but tough for a staple weapon.

I tried it out. Loved it. Brings a new element of analog pilot skill to the table, and packs a punch - people seldom expect it, so if you get that first hit you can be well ahead in the fight.

As for accuracy, well, I've flown for over 450 hours always using fixed weapons, so I find I can actually hit even eagles more than half of the time. The projectile has a perfect path and speed (always the same) so once you get used to it, it's a reliable tool.

Is it the "best" choice? One rather suspects not. But, it is a lot of fun and affords a canny cmdr some interesting opportunities.

Take it for a spin. Live a little. Help some other poor fools die a little.

A part of me wants to try three PAs on the large slots.....oh yes!

This is a great assassination loadout. I tried 3 PA and 2 fixed multi-cannons for a while and some ships do not know what's hit them. I suppose the all-railgun python trumps it but what a pain that is trying to practise with - constantly reloading.
