Dinosaurs General Gameplay Pack Hunting Mechanic w/ Success Rate

In the last thread I had covered the Success rate for carnivores and in this thread I wanted to cover pack hunting. 1st off I'll start by saying that pack hunting should be available for all carnivores since they all have an alpha. Next the animation should only occur if the alpha initiates it, which can only occur if there are the correct number of pack mates and if their hunger level is below a certain threshold (almost starving maybe). The reason pack hunting is being so heavily requested is because of the total unbelievability of one small carnivore taking down a bit hadrosaur.

Examples would be Velociraptor, needs at least three for it's pack hunting requirements. The animation would be best described as how Alan Grant told that one kid. In this scenario the alpha Velociraptor would approach the target from the front and keep it's attention on her. Then the other two would attack from the sides of the dinosaur. While the dinosaur ( in this case a hadrosaur) flails around doing a complete 360 in an effort to get the two raptors off the alpha leaps in and attacks the neck bringing the dinosaur down. Now factoring in the chance of failure the exact animation would play out but when the hadrosaur is about to complete it's 360 one raptor falls from the dinosaurs side as the alpha leaps up for the attack only to be knocked back and possibly killed.

Next would be Deinonychus. Because it's slightly smaller it would need four members. It's animation would be the raptors ambushing from behind and leaping onto their target clawing it to death while the animal is running. In failure they all fall off one by one and the alpha is flung off.

Dilophosaurus gets the best one in my opinion. Requirements for the pack animation is five. The animation is as follows. The alpha calls out to the others and as the four approach the target the alpha flanks around to get behind the dinosaur. The four dilos open their frills and start hissing getting the dinosaurs attention. The dinosaur backs up and one dilo spits and hits it in the eyes. The alpha then leaps onto the dinosaur and the other dilos follow suit and bring the dinosaur down. Failure is while the four dilos are attempting to distract the dinosaur it would turn and look to see the alpha and outflank it escaping from harm.

These animations are against medium herbivores only. They should work against a medium herbivore like Iguanodon since it would be outnumbered. If you would have an animation against a small herbivore the pack requirements would be two members and one distracts and the other attacks and both go in for the kill.

Medium carnivores are a bit more tricky as they have a multitude of things to hunt. But I'm throwing this out there that Allosaurus should hunt sauropods.

Example, Allosaurus would need four members against all sauropods. Against sauropods like diplodocus and apatosaurus the animation would be the alpha leading the charge and the sauropod in question trying to flee. It while it's tail and the alpha ducks leaving it open to attack from the runner up Allo. The sauropod turns to it's left as the 3rd Allo pounces on it. The 4th Allo grabs the sauuropods tail and holds it down while the alpha bites the neck and secures the kill. Failure would be that the runner up Allo darts passed the alpha and starts nipping at the sauropod only to get whacked by the tail. That could kill the Allo if it suits you. However the result from the tail whip would cause the runner up Allo to fall and trip up the alpha. This results in the end of the chase and the sauropod escapes.

Against Camarasaurus the four Allos surround it and circles it like hungry sharks. the Camarasaurus rears up on it's hind legs to intimidate them. When it rears up the second time the alpha leaps onto it to knock it over but it doesn't work and the second Allo jumps up to knock it over leaving it open for the other two to secure the kill. In failure once the camarasaurus rears up the alpha leaps up but doesn't have a secure grip and when the 2nd Allo pounces it knocks the alpha off and the camarasaurus lands on it crushing it with it's weight. Causing the other three Allosaurus to flee.

For large carnivores I haven't really come up with anything outside of their hunting requirements is two and while one chases the other ambushes and blindsides the target for the kill with a percent chance for failure. If you guys have similar ideas feel free to share them and maybe we can get this heard by frontier
