Painite Gone from my pristine metallic rings

Hi All,
Either I am having the worst luck in my 12 months mining history or the engineers release has really diluted profit from mining now.
I mine almost all the time. Made most of my money mining Painite in my system. Now for 3 days I think I have found maybe one rock that had 10% painite. I am losing money each trip now.
I used to return from my trips with 10 to 20 tons of painite. Now I am lucky to have one tone. It seems the addition of all these other low value materials have diluted the mines.

Very poor miner now.

EDIT: OK Well we can stop panic. I really must have had the worst luck of all time and it coincided with the engineers release. Today I went out to the same place and eventually came back with 30 tons of painite + plus all the other usual stuff.
Just put the prior failures down to the worst luck of all time.
Also I do notice that they pay more for the painite now too, so I ended up making over 3 mill from that run inc some some bounties

It might be a combination of bad luck with the random number generation and a change to the mechanic.
I've done one session in my favourite mining haunt (Sang Wana 4) and got 11t of painite, which was well below average for pre 2.1 trips. I was well away from any RES sites.
I was hoping to get another session today and work out the mechanic a little better.

What is painite listed as?
Is it a metal or mineral?
Minerals should be more abundant in rocky and metal-rich rings,
metallic should correctly have a very low likeliness to contain painite if
it is a mineral.

I mine in Delkar away from RES and always come back with some painite. Not today, however. This is my first outing in 2.1 but the signs are not good.

Painite is mineral, it is rare in metal rings,
look for rocky rings instead.

Nah, you mine for Panite in Metallic/ Pristine rings for the best yield (well, at least you used too).

I don't like the sound of this. I liked to make a nice bit of money mining panite (palladium, Platinum) before the engineers and it was always a nice way to get some money (not as good as combat, but enough for me to bother)

Since 2.1 I have been experimenting in mining Low Temperature Diamonds in Ice rings. The best I have seen with that is about 1 - 2 Low Temp Diamonds per 100 Prospector limpets. Not worth it. That was in various Pristine systems.

I was going to back to Panite mining (at Delkar too in fact, that was a good place pre 2.1) later this afternoon. But from the few reports since 2.1 about Panite mining is not good now, infact as bad as Diamond mining by the sounds of things, which would seriously suck.

Maybe they have "shuffled the deck"? But you would maybe expect them to reclassify systems from being "pristine"/ "Metallic" etc if they where going to do that.

Maybe we have to leave the "bubble" now to get the same kind of resources that we did pre engineers (but again, changing the mineral status for systems in the bubble might have been expected if they did this)

Pretty strange... I've mined some gold for Dangerous Games in Delkar yesterday - and I've met many painite rocks, palladium and platinum too. The ultimate yield is somewhat lower due to two new metals introduced in 2.1 (samarium and praseodymium), though.

It seems to me that the expensive metals have been diluted out by the new metals in 2.2. There were a few added, and those are appearing in quite high quantities, but this appears to have pushed Painite, Platinum and Palladium off of the loot table in some places.

I should try rocky and metal rich rings, if the tables have indeed been shuffled.

Time to deploy the mine-aconda.

Exactly, it's awesome a lot of painite while looking for gold. Also the price increased a lot,so you get more profit per tonne.

Oh and I was in a pristine metallic.

Seems fine to me

ok, just did 1 hour and half mining in Pristine/ Metallic and made 46 tons of Panite (made almost 2 mill from that) , and lots of other hi quality minerals too. Seems fine to me, that's as good as I ever got pre engineers.

Now I just wish I could figure out how to make Low Temp Diamonds profitable...there must be lots of them out there some where....

I have not noticed too much of a difference for Painite and Platinum, I still find plenty in my favorite mining location. It is just a bit diluted, as there are now two new metals to be found (Samarium and Praseodymium), but that also has reduced the amount of junk minerals found. I had more difficulties finding enough Osmium to fulfill my missions. If anyone is interested in my mining location (next door to a good high tech system), send me a PM.

Only thing really bothering me is that fragments seem to spawn inside Asteroids a lot, my collector limpets then crash into the Asteroid attempting collection. As I run 9 collectors in parallel, I am down by nine limpets every time that happens. I used to take about 115 limpets in my 256 cargo mining Conda, but that is no longer sufficient to fill the cargo hold without running out. Now I need to take at least 150. Not a big deal.

Its still there OP, its just much rarer than it used to be as a bunch of additional common minerals have appeared on the loot table.

I've mined in a few pristine rocky and metal rich rings since 2.1, no painite. But I have found a couple of nice painite roids in pristine metallic. Certainly not as common as before.
I'm more concerned about the way limpets only release one at a time, it is a real pain to release all my limpets now.

This was the outcome of 80 minutes of mining in Delkar 7 earlier this week (since 2.1 launched).

23t Platinum
35t Praseodymium
32t Painite
38t Samarium
64t Palladium

It really is how lucky you get with the roll of the virtual dice.
That said, Praseodymium and Samarium are definitely diluting the availability of "the good stuff".

Similar to what I got earlier. + The same as what I used to get before 2.1 too.

The valuables are definitely down. I just got 11 tonnes of Painite from a longish session.

On the upside I found somewhere 1 jump away from my new pristine metallic location, in a high security system (so safe to get to the station) with a very full outfitters, that buys painite at 75k cr / tonne! Good prices for the other metals too. So overall I'm probably making the same from a session.
