Paint Damage....

Why does the Paintjob of my Corvette keep getting damaged?
I repair and repair and repair it, but no matter what it seems like every time I leave the station it takes at least 1% damage. My shields never drop and it still takes damage.
I have come to the conclusion that my Corvette is either infested with Gremlins or Core Dynamics purchased the paint for its ships from a crayon Factory. Or maybe Subaru (impreza drivers will get this joke :)).

Seriously, who do I have to kill to get some quality paint on my ships? Perhaps I need to sacrifice some beer and Pizza to FD??? I can do that too.

Hey, here is an idea.... Give us an Engineer that will take the 33 metric tons of Chemical Manipulators I have collected and turn some of them into paint protection for our ships.

Funny, I was thinking I would like to see MORE evidence of impacts, abrasions, burns, etc. I deliberately resist touching up my paint. Is the 10,20,30 credits too much for a shine?

Not supposed to have any of that stuff if my shields were never broken. Or at least make it so that doing a repair all does not affect the paint.

That's cause the guys at the paint shop don't respect you homie. Rumor's you's from big money, don't have to work fo crap.

Gotta earn their respect bro.

Serious answer is, the paint damage is due to radiation mostly. Shields can't keep it out too well as they are tuned to counter high velocity impact from larger objects or concentrated beams. Ordinary space dust and cosmic background radiation will eat up your paint and that's intended.

Thats not right. Not right at all bro.
I started in a sidey. Worked my way up to a Cobra III. I smuggled for a living. I got chased by Johnny Law all over Eravate.
I even traded Slaves. Killed pirates. Hunted a few players and did the work of God himself. I earned my right to Pilot this bad boy.

I GOT IT- hire a paint posse. have them take up space in your hold. and each time you drop out, let them repaint and squeegee your windscreen!

Even though most of the time it makes no visual difference i repair my stuff one at a time to keep the paint stat messed up.
Call it a badge of pride.... that no one else can see.... that makes my repairs take 10 times longer than it should..... even though it makes no visual difference ......

Try taking your automobile next to a star with a surface temp of 5000 degrees C and see what it does to the paint work.

I'm just annoyed paintwork repair gets mixed in with repair all.. The knackered paint job look, looks awesome imo.

Would rep you but I'm all out, CMDR. Wish repair all didn't include paint.

Paint crews do not restore metal, they paint hulls. Even at 100% the paint over the hull is never really "perfect". I have the gold skin on my Anaconda and even with the paint freshly spruced-up, there are bubbles and blemishes on the hull. It's just paint on the hull after all, over rust, pits in the metal from those pesky cannons and scratches. They are painters, not magicians.

goddamn it.. preach! PREACH!!! THIS! ^
Frontier.. fix the whole paint situation.. please. :\

I mean, to be fair.. there IS a difference that I can see... but instead of being ACTUALLY worn down, it just looks like my paint's been scratched with a BIT of sandpaper.. I've seen the old pictures... it looked amazing before.. OK maybe a little over the top, but that being said, it looked legit..

I've just been messing with my paint/integrity.. I'm pleased to say it looks like integrity is now separate from paint... but I'm about to test again to be sure... fingers crossed.
