Paint Damage....

Even though most of the time it makes no visual difference i repair my stuff one at a time to keep the paint stat messed up.
Call it a badge of pride.... that no one else can see.... that makes my repairs take 10 times longer than it should..... even though it makes no visual difference ......

i tried to do that too but it takes considerably more than 10x longer if you have extensive damage, and i had it bugged a few times where i couldn't get some modules to repair individually: it simply did nothing ... so i had to resort to 'repair all' anyway.

For some of us, wear and tear doesn't actually actually show. It's a strange bug that Frontier doesn't appear to be especially aware of. All my ships look brand new no matter how worn their paint jobs are.

It depends hardly on the ship and which paintjob you have. The federal ships and the imperial ships look always as brand-new i think.
But the Python takes good visible wear and tear at the paintjob.
The Anaconda is atm the only Ship that takes also visible damage to the Hull. After a heavy fight with some damage she looks very scratched. I have no screens right now, i'm at work but i can later add some pics here.

Edit: okay seems that the imperial ships or at least the clipper are now affected by paintjob damage :)

Does paint percentage affect what the paint actually looks like? I've never seen any difference

Still happens, just not as much as it used to.

Not supposed to have any of that stuff if my shields were never broken. Or at least make it so that doing a repair all does not affect the paint.

Your shields will stop bullets, lasers, plasma, torpedoes, etc. I do not recall anyone ever saying they would stop dust and micro-meteor impacts.

It's a graphical bug and one that's especially noticeable on my Asp, since I can see the paint on the retrothrusters from the cockpit. During hyperspace jumps, the wear is visible but reverts to the usual non-scratched state as soon as I pop back into normal space.

I have opposite problem - very little wear and tear is evident. I would love to fly around in a battle scarred ship.

I think the paint jobs implementation have meant wear and tear visibility is almost non existent (nothing like earlier concepts etc.)

If I come back to a station with 1% hull, but have pristine paint - that just does not make sense.

The only practical difference between a micro-meteor and a bullet is that one of them was fired at you on purpose.

It's due to the sub-atomic quantum particles that being out of phase can pentrate your shields and happily munch on your bodywork creating wear and tear on your presious. Prolonged exposure can also cause the lavvy to malfunction leading to all kinds of unpleasantness, so repair often.

Edit -and don't forget to Wax on and Wax off.
