Paint Jobs on the fly

I was thinking about it, and with the advent of some of the QoL changes coming in 2.2, I think we should be able to change our ships paint jobs on the fly...not having to do it only where outfitting is available. To me, this one should be a no brainer as paintjobs have literally no material impact on the game...there would be zero negative affects possible, no opportunity for exploit or anything. Just simply being able to use what we paid for how ever, and when ever we wanted.

Would you like that in instant or delayed flavour? :D

P.S. From a serious and practical point of view; as much as I'd find it funny to have FD come up with a crazy explanation of why our ships can do a chameleon-like skin colour change at a whim. It's not really that much hassle to have to be at a station in order to switch paint jobs. It's equal parts realism and equal parts acceptable level of gameplay - It's fine. Doesn't need to be touched imo.

Unless you are 40k LY away from the nearest stations, and want a specific paint job for the background in the screenshot you are about to ake :) If I can insta travel the right ship for the right gank, err, I mean, job...I should be able to have the right paintjob for the right picture...

Ah, touche.

FD, get cracking on ship spray paint limpets that come standard!

I really can't see spray painting a space ship as it whizzes past working that well.....

Of course it can only be done when the ship is stationary....duh :)

ETA...nor should there really have to be an ingame mechanic to explain it...it is a completely harmless QoL improvement. I think a lot of people who have spent money on various paint job packs would love the opportunity and option to use more of them more frequently.

Immersion and role play and lore , thats a good reason not to do it.

I'm all for it.

If we go by the above idea of paint limpets.

Buy a paint limpet controller, limpets, a cargo rack to carry them, and use one paint limpet per paintjob swap, and I have zero complaint. More uses for limpets!

Because gameplay...all I am asking for is something that is a QoL thing that has no impact in the game...cosmetic only, that people paid extra money to have, and should be able to use at will..and at least with this QoL gameplay idea...as compared to other decisions...absolutely impossible to exploit.

Besides...lore, immersion...seeing a ship flying around with 20th century Earth national flag paint jobs? Really?

I like the idea the way the paint changes in the outfitting room it looks like its partly in the game anyway ,still i can see someone saying it brakes there immersion and having a big call out about it , tbh i am relly beginning to hate this immersion thing its the 34 centery stop tying to force us into 21 centery tech

If you look at the Gamescom videos that show the overhauled station menus, you'll see that Livery can be accessed without going into Outfitting (top right, at the beginning of the vid) :)

Btw they are work in progress so may be different by release....

I see that, but it's not exactly what I am after...

What I want is to be able to use various paint jobs that are bought with real money, have no affect on the game, and change them when 40k LY on the other side of the galaxy taking pictures.
