Paint wear on ships.

I am an imperialist. I love to fly imperial ships. They are, in my opinion, the most beautiful ships in the galaxy. But the wear of the paint makes me nuts. It goes against my imperial OCD.

I would like to have a slider where I can choose how much paint wear I like to have on my ships. Or a switch where I can switch it off.

Fly/land safe.

That is how my Cutter looks after 155,000 Ly.

... if you don't want to damage the paint, don't fly it. :)

I for one love the paint job destruction, my DBX that's toured the galaxy is a disgrace .... and point of pride for the damage I have done to the paint work.

to me, the image you posted, is a work of art; an art that was light years in the making. Plus you have the look of a purple Reaver about you, or a really miffed Deceptacon. :)

There is no work of art. There could be, if the paint wear would be random, which it is not. Another Commander on MCE has a Cutter with the same paint and has the same wear. Exactly the same wear.

As I said in another thread, its a matter of taste. I just don't like it.

See, the problem here is that, while your points are valid, your position is exclusive. Your side of the argument doesn't include people that don't want your position, while the OP includes your position by just leaving the feature turned on.

I would really like to see the option to turn off paint wear.

Rep for the OP!

... I didn't post in an attempt to prove anyone wrong, especially the OP wrong, I posted to give what you pointed out Captain Obvious, an opinion.

Any response I make will derail the discussion further, so I am refusing to engage you, but, I wanted you to know that I am refusing for a reason.

+1 to OP. In case anyone is interested, originally, the paint fixed automatically on repair at a station. Then, the forum community complained a whole bunch that they liked wear & tear, so FDev moved the paint to require a manual trigger to repair.

I could make the argument that infinitely perfect paint is "immersion breaking", but there is so much already that breaks "immersion" it's not important. So, give him perfect paint that never fades!! As for "immersion", make perfect paint a feature for Imp ships only (its an aesthetics thing, after all). Better yet, sell "perfect paint jobs" as a DLC. ;)

Am I missing something, here? Why not just repair(respray) it when you dock?

Mostly, it is for people (explorers) that are nowhere near repair facilities.

For me, personally, I prefer my screenies to be of a pristine ship with whatever I am shooting.
