Paintjob variety...

... or the lack of.
There are a lot of colourful paintjobs in the store, and that's not a bad thing because I am pretty sure many people like colourful space ships.
I though don't like them. I like the classic space ship design, best grayish, and I really miss those in the collection. There are a few white ones and that one very dark gray one. Then there are those with special effects and other playful cool stuff.

That said I like the Mamba ones this week, also fitting to its design as a former racing ship. Then there are the Phantom PJs where I really love the concept, but the colours... All six are toy and underwear coloured ranging from bright red and yellow to light blue and beigish green. Not one out of six is classic or at least subtle.

I mean, to each their own, but where is mine?

Coming Soon?

(where has superscript gone when you want it?!)

What is not to like about a hot pink Type 9? :p
Well, I guess it's okay that there is a pink one. It's not okay that there is not a classic gray one though.

EDIT: actually the PJ pack for the T9 does a good job at pleasing everyone's taste. There is that pink one, a few vibrant one, but also a no-nonsense gray one. If I still had a T9 I'd instantly buy.
If only one of 6 PJs for any ship was like that, I would buy a lot more stuff on the store. And I guess I am not the only one.

What about the Precision Paint Pack for the Phantom? Seems to be what you're asking for?

I actually own that one and if there weren't those colour stripes it would be great. Actually, I wouldn't even mind the stripes if they wouldn't have chosen a light green or a vibrant orange but, for example a dark red and black. Green and orange kill off the classic approach on those. That might sound pedantic, but small things like that completely change the tone of pictures, or in this case, paint jobs.

There is one paintjob I especially like, and that's the black variety of the squadron paintjob. My most beloved one for Anaconda and AspX... and any other ship it's available for.

I'd like WWII-style nose art, as well as the airbrush artwork that some car and bike enthusiasts apply to their hot rods.

Age restriction.
Complexity of storing a custom paint job (ala Battlefield style).
Transferring that paint job to thousands of players.
That's not quite what I meant, FD is not going to give up the revenues for the paint. The developed paint would have to be given to FD for approval and they would place it on the store if approved- I don't what code they are using for the paint(Objects, bit mapping ect, ect, ect) they would need a editor created for the different layouts for others to use.

Not all that keen on either of those ships, but I get where you’re coming from at least. Sooner or later something will come out to appease you.

The best one is the Midnight one. Shame it does no apply to Krait ships and has to be bought separately...
