PAINTJOBS PETITION: 661 Phantoms will join DW2. Release some nice paintjobs please!

661 Krait Phantoms are joining the expedition right now.

It is the 3rd most popular ship joining Distant Worlds 2 after the Anaconda and the ASP Explorer.

Unfortunately what I can see in the Frontier Store right now for the Krait Phantom paintjobs are only the Tactic, Military and Vibrant packs. They're all single color paints with no symbols, no stripes, no reflection nor light fx, everything boring as hell!

I've recently created a new CMDR on a new licence for exploration only and I would like to have a nice paint for my brand new Phantom for Distant World 2 Expedition.

Please release a dedicated Krait Phantom paintjob for DW2 or try at least to adapt some of the most popular paintjobs from the ASP Explorer!

Thank you!

Technically there is/was the Black Friday paintjob, which I treated myself to.

Unfortunately the aliasing is so bad on it (even on SMAA) that I'm being put off by it, so not flying the Phantom as much as I normally would as it's generally a pretty good looking ship. Something like the Horus pack would work much better imo.

So you want them to stop doing other things to rush out some paintjobs for a brand new ship, risking rushing and making mistakes, which would then be followed by months of complaints about the quality of the skins etc. Does it really matter?

There was also the Festive Countdown golden paintjob which I got for myself - but yes more paintjobs please.

I can see it with my original CMDR but not with the new account. Same for the golden one. Anyway that's another single color paintjob so nothing exciting!

While I agree, the problem I have with multi colour paintjobs these days is the way the supposed straight lines aren't straight, it looks like being painted with a large round brush. The issue's been raised elsewhere in the forum (in relation to the Corvette) but I notice it on most of my ships and various paintjobs now, so prefer to apply single coloured paints mostly now:/

I don't have this issue on my ASP-X and Imperial Courier Paints and these are all great! Especially the Imperial Courier ones..

So it's possible that other bigger ships got a too complex geometry and/or they were designed without consideration to the later paintjobs.

I noticed the issues on the Krait, Challenger and Beluga. Only when I zoom in though to be fair, from a fair distance it doesn't stick out. It's one of those 'once you've seen it you can't unsee it' things as I didn't notice them before:(

So from that perspective I find the aliasing issues with the Kraits more annoying - they could probably be addressed by darkening the panel outlines as those are in a pretty bright grey at the moment so the contrast and therefore AA issues are pretty stark.

The imperial courier is actually one where this is the most noticeable. This is straight from the store picture:

Should find out in ten minutes.

Already got the popcorn on standby.

Given the popularity of the Phantom, the fuss that Frontier has made over DW2, and the fact that paintjobs are easy money for Frontier, this is a strange trick for them to miss.

I'm surprised they're missing this train too...

I never noticed that, and I bought this paintkit almost one year ago. I have to admit I've never checked at the details.
Still I think this should be the reason to improve the quality and not to stop doing cool paints. I bought a couple of single color paint for Python and Cutter but I will never buy them again... the original paintkit is less boring in the end.

No store update yet. Game is dead.

Personally I'm rooting for more Cobra skins.

I really like the galvanized packs (got them for the Vulture and the T10) - single colour but they look great (imo, I can see how some might consider them too flashy) and unlike the other single colour ones, they cover the whole bodywork:

I actually avoid owning ships I don't have paintjobs for these days, as I don't like the vanilla ones (imperial ships excluded). And buying paints for all of them would break the bank...
