Paintwork

Good to hear inthe AMA that we'll be getting at least SOME paintwork soon

AND possibly in future (not imminent) the option of naming ships etc.

Yeah, I'm the artistic type and I spend more hours in COD's Emblem Designer than I do in the game (mostly because the game just sucks now). I would pay a flat fee for the right to use my custom artwork in ED, but not for every time I changed my paint, because that'd stifle my creativity (and my obsessive improvements).

Yeah, kids will paint knobs (or, more likely, that shot of the chick's a** that every third COD player has as their logo) but how many of them will PAY a fee to do it? Not many, is my guess.

Imagine this: you can create paint jobs, and then list them for sale in a marketplace. If another player buys it, Frontier gets 100% of the cash, you get a nice in game credit bonus.

Oh, and get paint jobs into the XBOX ONE edition, stat! (Please)

I don't see that as a possibility sadly, it would ruin their actual approach on it. customizing decals though is a different story..and there is not problem with all the "Draw dodongos" on the ship with it, just let have a way to report it and have FD to look if it's inadequate and punish the user for it, not many will do this kinda thing if they pay the price.
Again, it won't ruin anyones day for seeing a childish artistic expression

I very much do not want to fly around space surrounded by space cocks and bewbs (of as we call them in space, cocks and bewbs)

unfortunately the type of people who would do this are generally the type of people who also have access to mummy and daddy's credit card so paying for it isn't a problem, but this would be my solution. It gives the ability to customize your ships colours (to colours you like or faction colours etc if you have a minor faction) but runs zero risk of space cocks

having the ability to draw your own would be great, I'd spend hours on it myself, but we have to play to the lowest common denominator and Frontier have got enough on their hands without having to take somebody's time away from important projects to be a paintjob moderator, again this completely cuts out all of that before it starts.

The names filter can be taken directly from the already in play language filter in text chat, making that easier and would allow you to make your ship totally unique

Maybe I don't understand their actual approach. Could someone explain it to me, or direct me to a thread doing so? If they allowed us to create paint jobs, so long as the player buying it pays them for it, why would it matter who created it? I know I'd pay the same price as one of their skins for the ability to custom paint my own ship, and if a bunch of other players like that skin enough to buy it, paying the creator in in-game credits doesn't cut into their profit, and gives players incentive to create more content for them.

And yes, naming ships in game would only formalize something that 90% of players have probably done informally anyway.

it could be a great idea to maybe find materials on planets that can be used to paint ships .. frontier can still make money making special or limited edition paint jobs
