Introduction:
Currently, there isn't very much incentive to sell Alien artefacts anywhere be that Guardian or Thargoid. Despite the leading researchers in these fields (Ram Tah and Palin respectively) most probably needing these materials the most, they do not buy them for any exclusive price.
Suggestion:
Lore Approach: These individuals are the core of their field (undoubtfully AEGIS has taken the majority of Thargoid research, but we can doubt Palin has given up just yet
) In order to prevent guardian or Thargoid material being sold off into various markets making it both time consuming and likely costly to obtain. it is decided to cut this process out of the picture, these individuals are offering exlusive trade prices for related items. in an effort to funnel resources directly to them saving both time and money in the long run.
Functional Approach:
-Ram Tah and Palin have Commodity Markets updated and added to their bases
- Traded goods do not effect the BGS, much like the Pilot's Fed bonds. this prevents any faction imbalances and the BGS from having a cardiac arrest.
-Items are sold at significantly higher prices than other stations ( 1000% of standard average pricing, leading to Thargoid items selling for around 2M, guardian 500k+ per item. )
-This is not outrageous however, taking into consideration that;
1). This exclusive price is only available at the respective Engineer bases, due to the grind wall this serves as added reward.
2). For guardian items these are fairly far away, sure someone in a cutter or type-9 could blast out there and fill cargo holds of over 512t or more, but this would take a significant amount of time anyway. in the time it takes to travel out, collect and come back there are numerous other activities that could pay much more per hour
3). For Thargoid items, these are corrosive, time consuming to obtain and sometimes extremally risky (especially in tissue samples, these should pay much more). sure players could fill up their standard cargo holds with corrosive items and blast back for large profits, let them. however it is their fault if the cargo hatch malfunctions and they loose it all
, 'safe' players can load these items onto corrosive resistant cargo racks, meaning they ca turn a profit off a full rack of around 16-32M+ on a full trip. Not terrible pay, but it reflects the time and effort.
-it provides scenario incentive, where Thargoid Structures are all but forgotten now that the Palin mission hype is over, this would create some opportunity to visit sites like such, and create a little more purposeful atmosphere rather than just trading from screen to screen, Starport to Starport Etc. For the Guardian aspect it proves to be more of a drop off point for relics obtained either from Missions or just personal voyages.
Conclusion:
With the addition of such a system, it would create a lot more attention from players, a potential for additional career options, further develop narrative and add more significance to the figures Ram Tah and Palin. these numbers are by no means equivalent to the current gold rush in terms of pay per hour/ risk (mining has 0% risk really) or other activities such as the Robigo run. it is just a nice figure for people to indirectly participate with both game and personal Narratives.
Love to hear your thoughts on this! o7
