Panther Clipper MK2 - A Cautionary Tale

Disclaimer: There is nothing wrong (as far as I'm concerned) with the PC2. I got the Stellar version to make rebuys cheap (currently only 38k due to a Sirius Heatsink replacement and a FSD C2 booster). I hope everyone who has been waiting for this ship is satisfied. I love it.

Ok, I fully engineered everything but the weapons. She handled fine as vanilla and is really fun to fly now with all the engineering. Possibly a little too fun...

And now, the cautionary tale:

I've been letting the Adv. docking computer (ditched the SC thing to make room for the C2 FSD booster) handle my docking and undocking. I don't need to use it, but I like to - especially on undocking as it will route my egress like a traffic controller in response to other vessels entering/exiting the stations. However, like most of my other ships, I usually switch to manual just as I clear the toaster rack and boost/turn toward my destination.

So on one of my exits from the CG destination, going out to get another load of gallium, I did a boost while pulling up. All of sudden I see a small ship heading right toward me and think "Oh crap!" There was an impact and I got the wreckless flying fine. Ok. Then I hear the dull whump of that ship exploding and get the message that I now have a Bounty. Crap! Well, I'll clear it at Interstellar factors somewhere along my route. Just as I'm finishing that thought, I get the message that I'm under attack and realize the station is firing on me (please note, I'm still boosting away). I get ready to boost again when my HUD goes out. Uh oh... 5 seconds later (does the PC2 take longer to explode and eject you) and I'm at a rebuy screen and at a Detention Center. My only real loss was some exploration data I gained on one of the routes (system with 2 water worlds) that I hadn't cashed in because I was waiting to get back to my home systems/power. Oops.

So the warning here is to be careful when flying the PC2. It's like driving an 18 wheeler with a rocket strapped on the back! Collisions with small ships will be... disastrous.

Please note: I was in solo mode, so no other players were harmed in this incident. Nor was this a sidewinder ganking. Honestly, I'm not sure what the ship was. I think it was an Adder, but not certain.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed my cautionary tale and found it amusing. I know I did. First time (been playing since December 2015) I've ever had this happen. Glad I had a tiny rebuy. :)

With Cutter ADC was pretty reckless, but not a single scratch from it on my brand new PCII (A-rated, G5 DT/DD Thrusters) so far. Even when all 4 pips are on Eng.
By other words I would suggest to let ADC do its job with PC.

I swatted a Krait II out of the way with mine, it had a sniff of hull left so all I got was a 50cr fine for reckless flying. Fortunately I'd batted it away from the station.
