Paralives (New life-sim game like The Sims)

It looks like there will finally be an alternative to the Sims which would mean the end of the monopoly EA has on The Sims.

Not much info is available yet but it looks to be a full life simulator with hopefully more building freedom than the Sims 4 had.
  • Open Worlds
  • Vehicles (cars, houseboats, horses)
  • PC and Mac OS
  • Steam with Steam Workshop support
Personally I never liked Sims 4 because they took out all the good stuff such as open worlds, create a style and anything fun building related which is pretty much the reason I played the Sims 3 for: to build my dream house and live in it. So I do hope that this game will fill the void that Sims 4 created for me and bring me back to building nice houses.

Will this game be the saviour of the Life Sim genre? Just like how Planet Coaster saved the theme park building genre (Rollercoaster Tycoon) and how Cities Skylines saved the city building and managing genre (SimCity).

Wondering how it would turn out. I must admit i'm not that happy about the current art style, seems a bit like the Sims 4 art style, too cartoonish for me. But as this will be heavily focussed on modding i'm positive this game will be perfect for PC gamers that like to have freedom. If anything this game will probably force EA to make the Sims 5 a fun building and open world game again like the Sims 3 was, as this game appears to be doing exactly that.

This looks very interesting, for a long time I was hoping someone will try to make game like Sims as my adventure with the "genre" ended up on Sims 2. I got all, and I mean ALL things for Sims 2 and I cant remember how many hours did I spent playing it. The thing I really hate about the serie is that with every iteration EA forces you to buy all of the game again, and again offering less and less in the basic package. Pretty sure Sims 5 with start with 60$ character creation pack to start you with...
Will be looking closely how this game evolve from now, thanks for posting!

I never got on with the Sims - it may have been Sims 4. I gave up when I realised that I had to tell my sims to go to the toilet, feed themselves and wash. Not my idea of relaxing entertainment. So I'll see how this one goes from the sidelines - I had to laugh at their spinning green 'jewel', straight out of Sim-4 methinks!?

Good spot though and thanks for posting about it!

Edit: I wonder if this game will do for the Sims what Cities:Skylines did for SimCity... here's hoping!

That "cartoony" graphical style is a deal breaker for me. Cant live with that so that's a no go for me even if the game otherwise would be better than The Sims franchise.

Kinda agree, lets hope it's very early development. And don't forget full (real) workshop support from the start. Not just some models or blueprints, real mods. So there are definately gonna be graphics mods and other improvements if this game ever sees the light of day.
